Product Description:
Growl is a global notifications system for OS X. (for example) Growl allows you to get notifications on iTunes track changes, new email notifications, and many other things.
What's new in this version:
- Fixed "Install Failed" on Leopard
- Fixed problem where Growl would continue to be 1.1.2 even after installing 1.1.3, because we weren't looking in the correct Home directory for an old version
- Fixed Growl updater continuing to inform you of 1.1.3 after you installed it (which was because it was still 1.1.2)
- Fixed SMS display not loading into either Growl or the preference pane
- Added version number to the Ã?Å?ber (About) tab in the German localization
- Fixed comma splice in ââ?¬Å?can't bindââ?¬? error message
- Localization updates:

French
German (see above)
Swedish - Disabled installation for all users on Leopard, because that doesn't work anymore as of 10.5.3
- Corrected version number in many localizations
- Fixed what could have been the same ââ?¬Å?Install Failedââ?¬? problem on Leopard that the Growl Installer package had
- GrowlSafari actually works now (fixed some permissions problems in the Installer package)
- Fixed localized strings in certain localizations
- Corrected filename extension of Installer package: it was .mpkg, and is now .pkg
- Allow --appIcon to accept an application name without the ââ?¬Å?.appââ?¬? suffix

I have been reduced to one "space" since SL came out, but now that Growl is updated, I can safely confine Adium and other chatty apps to other spaces.
Growl is an effective tool for showing heads up displays for many apps that may update (or may not) their dock icons. For a dock hider like myself, and multiple space user, this utility is INVALUABLE.
Try in conjunction with GrowlMail and hardware growler. For sysadmins, use growlnotify and use the "listen" feature in the pref pane to monitor your flock of sheep, whether it be workstations or servers.

I get a lot of Console messages under 10.6, and would you believe the uninstaller is a PPC app, not Universal?! GrowlMail is disabled on 10.6...
