Product Description:

World of Where is the easiest way to learn the countries and capital cities of the world on Mac OS X.

Featured are nine gorgeous dynamic maps each covering a continent of the world (including a map dedicated to the United States of America).

Each continent is fully testable in both countries and capital cities and makes World of Where a terrific tool for students and teachers and a great way to learn geography, essential general knowledge in a 21'st century world.

It's fun, educational and slightly addictive.

What's new in this version:

  • Countries and capitals now appear immediately when pressing skip in soft mode or incorrectly clicking in hard mode.
  • Wrong countries are highlighted in red, visually representing the places you still need to learn.
  • Added full world test feature in which the entirety of your geographical knowledge is tested as world of where takes you around the globe.
  • Preferences and high scores now stored in preference folder where they belong (sorry register users will have to re-enter their serial number).
  • Added two new countries: Bermuda and Liechtenstein.
  • Removed useless more info feature.
  • High scores more detailed with percentage of entire world and average percentage.
  • World of Where can now be used with any color setting, even black and white.
  • Cities are much more geographically accurate.
  • Highly optimized code making world of where slightly snappier and reducing its total size by 25%.
  • A few miscellaneous bugs fixed such as spelling mistakes.

World of Where CommentaryStatistics not shown in version 3.8 - Version: 3.8, 8/15/2007 08:54AM PST

The latest version does not show statistics for countries (area, population, GDP etc.). The previous versions used to show these statistics upon hovering the cursor upon the countries. This fact that this feature has been removed has not been mentioned in the list of changes for this version. Though it is a good program, i am sad to see a useful feature be removed. I wonder whether it is a bug which might be corrected or a deliberate change.

Also, i agree with another reviewer that the color of countries should be made to change in every test. After multiple tests you subconsciously start relating country with their colors.

Another problem is in the flag tests when you get the answer wrong, the font color of the country simply changes color to red. The correct answer is not otherwise displayed anywhere. So in a test with many countries on the map after some time it becomes difficult to figure out which name just turned red. If the name was popped up or something then it would be easier to spot, but simply changing the font color when you have many other 'red' countries makes it very hard to spot in maps with numerous countries.

World of Where CommentaryMoving to an Intel Mac broke WOW for me - Version: 3.7.3, 3/7/2007 05:46AM PST

Very strange...now when I take a test, clicking on states or countries, gives me an error result...whether I click on the correct object or not. Hawaii seems to be one of the few states that WOW knows where it is.
