kJams ReviewThere Is No Other - Version: 1.0d49, 5/8/2008 06:58AM PST

wgfinley
Long and short of it, I have used kJams for several years now, I was one of the early testers for Dave and his product, I've been a KJ for 15 years and I have used kJams professionally for karaoke as wells as for handling backtracks for a lounge act as well as my own online lounge act -- there is no other karaoke hoster, OS X or otherwise, period. No other program offers the features, versatility, polish, presentation, intuitiveness or the capabilities of kJams. This includes the Windows platform as well where I used several hosting programs. No other program parses a massive library in not time at all. Screwed up your library or rebuilt your drive? Re-index the whole dang thing in minutes. Have a singer who sings the same 5 songs every time and is particular about the version? His favorites are in there waiting for you just to click on "here". Have a venue that's just once a month with a core group of folks who always sing the same thing every time? No problem, they're all right there with their favorites and they're not cluttering up the favorites from your weekly gigs. Most of us spend half our lives ripping as well, I did too before I ripped with kJams. Most hosters won't even touch ripping and kJams gives you the best ripper there is period. Anal about your sound quality and want everything in AIFF or WAV? No problem. Like LAME at 128? No problem. Tired of zipping CDG files to compressed files, organizing folders, keeping them all sorted and named the same thing? No problem, kJams rips and sorts your library just like iTunes does. Did I mention integration with KJ Pro so you can keep your song book organized while you rip? Pure genius. Dave is a diligent and attentive developer, he's constantly working on his product to make it better and he's there to fix it when something goes wrong. He communicates well with users finding out what we want in our karaoke program and doing what it takes to get those features integrated into the product. As I stated earlier, there is no other hoster professional or otherwise, OS X or Windows, that measures up to kJams. Look no further.

kJams ReviewkJams Beats Them All! - Version: 1.0d48, 4/7/2008 12:31PM PST

Comment:
I have been using kJams Pro for over four years and have found this program to be the best KJ program for the Mac for running a Karaoke show. I have followed this program through most of it's developmental stages and it just keeps getting better and better. It plays Karaoke tracks with far superior fidelity and accuracy than the best hardware Karaoke machines on the market, even when the key is changed several steps, thus allowing the singer to hear his/her track undistorted in the key of his/her individual voice range.

The kJams interface keeps your library extremely well organized enabling the KJ to make playlists for individual singers and to play individual tracks with a single mouse click - far more efficient than hunting through CD folders for discs and placing in and removing from a Karaoke hardware machine enabling the KJ to "keep the show going" without any "dead air space."

Even more impressive than the program itself, is the technical support given by Dave Cotter, the software creator of this ingenious program. I have limited knowledge about computers and Dave has provided the most prompt and generous tech support imaginable, even three to four hours at a time in telephone and computer remote control tech support! I have never received such tech support from any other software vendor/developer! Dave's tech support is unsurpassed!

Therefor, I highly recommend kJams! You certainly will be amazed by it's wealth of features, quality of sound and phenomenal tech support!

kJams ReviewKJams Pro Customer Support - Version: 1.0d48, 1/31/2008 12:00AM PST

Wow, what incredible customer support! I purchased KJams Pro and because of MY lack of computer knowledge, I was having extreme difficulty with the program. I contacted Dave and within 10 minutes of taking over my computer, Dave had me understanding and working the program like a pro. I would purchase this program 100 times over again just for the customer support. Thanks Dave.

Sincerely,

Coni in Florida

kJams ReviewFantastic for Any Karaoke Singer or KJ! - Version: 1.0d46, 3/17/2007 04:24PM PST

I have been using KJams Pro for over a year now.
It has evolved into a top notch program that does much more than just play Karaoke CDs.
Besides using Meta tags and being able to Rip your own CD-G's, you can organize every
Karaoke CD you own, make songbooks and much more. All in all a great program in development
and I look forward to the next update.

kTunes, even in its current development status, is already a functional karaoke application, with the promise of soon being the premier application across all platforms. The author is expending an impressive herculean effort to bring this application into being. Congratulations!

kJams ReviewGreat product - Version: 1.0d30, 1/10/2005 02:06PM PST

This they only cd+g karaoke app for mac so that scores alot of points right there alone. It is really nice that it has the same user interface as itunes making it fast and easy to learn. But the importing the songs right now is sort of pain for naming you have to do so much its crazy. But it will be fixed in futur versions. So if you have a bounch of karooke discs lying around down load this and have a hoot. But remember this is what I like to call "super beta" so don't get your hopes up. Can not wait for newer versions. Great app and support, keep it up!

kJams ReviewWinblows Knocked Down a Notch Again - Version: 1.0d20, 11/21/2004 10:37AM PST

DJ Guy
I'm a professional KJ so that is the main area this review will cater too -- I could care less if the software plays KAR, MIDI, or other junk that can't be used professionaly. There is only one format for the computer-based KJ -- MP3+G.

I use kTunes with a 200 GB external Firewire drive that is formatted in NTFS. kTunes has made steady (and rapid) development over the past few months and the developer has been very responsive to my input in handling a massive database and getting kTunes ready for a live application.

kTunes had it's virgin professional outing with me last Friday and did a great job. Sure, it has a way to go (it's always been development, hence the "d" in the version numbers!) but it's development has been great to date.

It already does something THE king karaoke hoster program for Windows (Sax-n-Dotty's) doesn't do in tracking singers. Once the present functions are thoroughly debugged kTunes owns anything on the Windows platform, once it adds the remining features in development there won't be anything close.
