Product Description:

Near-Time Flow is the breakthrough content and knowledge manager for individuals and groups. Flow allows you to author, gather, organize, share and publish the information you rely on - from documents and weblogs to web pages, images and files - in an intelligent and integrated manner. Flow incorporates a hypertext authoring system, web browser, RSS news reader and a weblog editor, all within a powerful collaboration platform.

Flow is perfectly suited for personal and group information management alike -- publicize your content through Flow's multiple publishing options or set up a Share-Space to grant multiple users the ability to edit, discuss, organize and use the same content. You can also securely collaborate by combining Flow with Near-Time's collaboration server, Near-Time Relay.

Flow offers powerful knowledge management tools for finding, organizing and utilizing information as it is needed. Flow's Digest pages aggregate diverse content on a single page by user defined settings. Flow's robust navigation system -- including navigation through time via the timebar -- enables you to quickly traverse the relationships between pages. The timebar combines with a change view to present a page's history, indicating what has changed, who made the change, and when the change was made.

All of the text in Flow (including web pages and RSS content and weblogs) is indexed and searchable across a rich set of zones, including all pages, pages per Folio, comments and names.

What's new in this version:

Many enhancements have been made in this release, including:
  • Access to your recent work has been enhanced through a top-level user home page. The home page loads in a separate window (called the Start window) upon launch and serves as a launch pad to your content. The Start window summarizes space and category informations and reports recent page activity.
  • Growl notifications have been added to keep you better informed of key events as they occur. For example, you will receive notifications when a feed page updates. To enable Growl notification, select the Enable Growl notifications option of your Preferences (Flow>Preferences>General).
  • Reorganization has been simplified through new menus enabling you to place a check box next to the space(s) the active page should belong to. The space-level filing menus can be accessed 1.) via the the Space context button at the bottom of Flow or 2. by clicking on the Spaces option within the Info panel.
  • Help documentation has been enhanced and is now available at: http://www.near-time.net/docs/Flow/15/
  • The initial configuration of your weblog space has been streamlined as you can now select your weblog type and only need to specify the URL for your blog along with your username and password.
  • Flow now synchs with your weblog, automatically pulling in any new categories and posts uploaded outside of Flow. Synching occurs each time you post or edit your settings. You can also synch manually by ctrl-clicking on the space and selecting the Synchronize option.
  • You can now edit the template Flow uses when you move content to your weblog server space via Share>BlogThis. To edit a template, ctrl-click on the weblog space and select Edit "SpaceName". Select the Post Template tab.
  • Along with a number of bugfixes and UI enhancements...

This seems really useful. The support team is very responsive to suggestions and feedback comments on this early access version. I have been looking for a way to switch my work OneNote stuff to a Mac program and all the ones I have used (even the excellent Notebook and DevonThink seem lacking in this area). This seems to be the best alternative currently on Mac to compete with Microsoft OneNote in Windows side. Of course this does quite a bit more than any of those. Some rough edges on how flags are handled but seems to be on track.

This is an excellent program with a lot of potential. Keep in mind it is a version 1, and a very solid one. I do not use its collaboration features, so perhaps someone else can comment on those.
So far I have used it to organize my research, and to organize most of the information I have for a few projects I'm working on. This information includes PDF files, Text Clippings, Word and Excel Documents, images, etc, and in most cases Flow gives me an instant preview of the contents of these documents.
Prior to using Flow, I tried many products with some of Flow's features. Most of the programs I tried are actually pretty decent, although none comes close to having the versatility and capabilities that Flow has.
Customer support is superb. I really feel spoiled by their great service and support. For anyone interested in other reviews, just do a Google search. Little by little more people are finding out about Flow and praising this great software. Although I use it in a limited way, it's easy to see the amazing potential this program has. By the way, it pays to read the manual.
I'm giving price a high rating since I got it under the special introductory price, otherwise it may seem a bit expensive, but for many it will still be worth it.
