Product Description:

This application exclusively for Mac OS X 10.4 or later (PowerPC and Intel processors) places Network information for AirPort Extreme, and built-in Ethernet, as well as System information on your desktop. Very useful for administrators to gather system information.
  • Network information - Internal IP address, external IP address, broadcast address, subnet mask, DNS Servers, Wireless network name, AirPort and Ethernet MAC addresses, wireless channel, Wireless card type.
  • System Information - Mac OS X Version, Darwin version, processor name, CPU Speed, CPU Usage, machine serial number, Computer type, Built in RAM usage, disk usage, battery information, users who have accounts on your system.
  • New system maintenance routine with Repair Permissions, Update Prebindings, Run Cron Scripts, Delete Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache files, delete system cache, Reset Spotlight
  • PowerBook/iBook battery info.
  • User account information, size, trash size, permissions.
  • Application info on script-ability, file path, visibility, copy path to clipboard, creator type, etc.
  • Direct access to commonly used utilities such as: Activity Monitor, Disk Utility, Console, Terminal, NetInfo Manager, Network Utility, AirPort Setup Assistant, AirPort Admin Utility, Internet Connect, Software Update and System Preferences.
  • Compiled with Universal Binary for use on Intel-based Macs and the current PowerPC Mac.

What's new in this version:

  • Attempting to make iTattle work more effectively on Macintels by using only system profile dumps. If it doesn't work for your intel system then report your system profile dump to me via email.
  • Other nit-picking tweaks under the hood.
  • Also I am looking for donations to buy an Intel based Mac to be able to better develop future versions of iTattle. If you would please give a little by clicking the Donate button inside of iTattle.

lets see. i always like seeing system info..

where to start, as soon as i launched it i got an error, on second launch i did not get error again. and i didnt pay attention to the message.

while trying to update the window info i got applescript errors, which also do not happen on a second launch.

my system is a Digital Audio G4 Dual 533 PPC currently running Tiger 10.4.6

also clicking on check for updates tells me theres a newer update, when i download it, i get the same version again.

iTattle CommentaryI hope this doesn't become a trend - Version: 3.0, 12/24/2005 05:57AM PST

I truly hope development "exclusively for Mac OS X 10.4" doesn't become a trend. Some of us are so disgusted with Tiger that we've never upgraded-or have reverted to Panther as I did.

iTattle ReviewGood idea, but.... - Version: 2.1, 12/9/2005 10:54PM PST

The idea behind iTattle is sound - it's especially attractive to us SA-types who need to get an overview of a system that includes details that the System Profiler doesn't.

However....

On my G5, it reports the incorrect amount of RAM installed. It says 2048M, I have 2560M. For Sound Volume, it reports "missing value% of full". Pulling up user info gives columes with poor formatting, and an inability to scroll all the way to the right - I have to resize the window.

For networking, it reports "TITLE" for the external IP address, and "n/a" for DNS servers (which I do have set). The list goes on.

This is under a fairly vanilla 10.4.3 install.

It's a good concept, but flawed at this point. I plan on checking in again in a few revisions to try it again.
