Product Description:

This application places Network information for AirPort Extreme, and built-in Ethernet, as well as System information on your desktop. Very useful for administrators to gather system information.
  • Network information - Internal IP address, external IP address, broadcast address, subnet mask, DNS Servers, Wireless network name, AirPort and Ethernet MAC addresses, wireless channel, Wireless card type, and wireless firmware version.
  • System Information - Mac OS X Version, Darwin version, processor name, CPU Speed, CPU Usage, machine serial number, Computer type, Built in RAM usage, disk usage, battery information, users who have accounts on your system, and application info.
  • Tasks: Repair disk permissions, edit contab, Quit the Finder, and open URL's.
  • Direct access to commonly used utilities such as: Activity Monitor, Disk Utility, Console, Terminal, NetInfo Manager, Network Utility, AirPort Setup Assistant, AirPort Admin Utility, Internet Connect, Software Update and System Preferences.
  • Mac OS X Fun: Exposé Blob, minimize window to Dock animation "Suck"

What's new in this version:

  • Addition of an update button to update network status. I found that automatically updating the network status box made iTattle way too slow.
  • Fixed the external IP address code to correctly show your external IP.
  • Separated out the maintenance scripts so now you can run the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly scripts separately from each other or run all at once.
  • Fixed an issue where the WEP key generator displayed wrong number of characters.
  • Continuing to work on battery reporting problem introduced with Mac OS 10.3.8, I have found that some batteries don't agree with a sensor that reports the battery info.
  • Any other issues sent to me that have not yet been resolved are being worked on every day. This release reflects issues that have been fixed so far.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 or later
  • BSD subsystem

lets see. i always like seeing system info..

where to start, as soon as i launched it i got an error, on second launch i did not get error again. and i didnt pay attention to the message.

while trying to update the window info i got applescript errors, which also do not happen on a second launch.

my system is a Digital Audio G4 Dual 533 PPC currently running Tiger 10.4.6

also clicking on check for updates tells me theres a newer update, when i download it, i get the same version again.

iTattle CommentaryI hope this doesn't become a trend - Version: 3.0, 12/24/2005 05:57AM PST

I truly hope development "exclusively for Mac OS X 10.4" doesn't become a trend. Some of us are so disgusted with Tiger that we've never upgraded-or have reverted to Panther as I did.

iTattle ReviewGood idea, but.... - Version: 2.1, 12/9/2005 10:54PM PST

The idea behind iTattle is sound - it's especially attractive to us SA-types who need to get an overview of a system that includes details that the System Profiler doesn't.

However....

On my G5, it reports the incorrect amount of RAM installed. It says 2048M, I have 2560M. For Sound Volume, it reports "missing value% of full". Pulling up user info gives columes with poor formatting, and an inability to scroll all the way to the right - I have to resize the window.

For networking, it reports "TITLE" for the external IP address, and "n/a" for DNS servers (which I do have set). The list goes on.

This is under a fairly vanilla 10.4.3 install.

It's a good concept, but flawed at this point. I plan on checking in again in a few revisions to try it again.
