KaraTunes ReviewCan't Say I USED it! Purchased over six months ago. BEWARE! - Version: 3.2.0, 7/16/2009 01:36PM PST

EndlessFx
KaraTunes NEVER worked properly and the unproperly working was for, let's see, two days, perhaps. Then there was a problem with the registration. Contacted the vendor who NEVER responded so I just lost however much it was I paid for this trash! Finally, I saw an update to version 3.2.0 and thought perhaps this "posing as a developer" person was redeeming itself. NOT! There is no way to download this application to my MacPro. The zip file comes in via VersionTracker Pro but cannot be opened. The website - well - the website doesn't get as far in the download process as a penney does in buying MJ's Neverland Ranch. I have had it with "posing as a developer" Rip-Offs. This application and support is less than what you might find as Mr. Commode's dinner table.

FED UP!

KaraTunes ReviewIt Use To Work - Version: 2.5.1, 12/18/2006 05:23AM PST

I have owned the produce for more than a year. It has become better and better while using iTunes 6. With the introduction of iTunes 7.0 KaraTunes has become his or miss. Either it gets the song or most often the beachball spins on and on.

I contacted KaraTunes twice. Neither times did I receive any type of message.

At this time, KaraTunes does not work with iTunes 7. If you are using iTunes 6, KaraTunes is a very good program.

Before the music industry pigopoly lets loose its lawyer hounds on this developer's yugular? Shall we make a raffle to see who guesses the time correctly? I give it about a week or less. After seeing what they did to the poor guy who was developing PearLyrics for free, I can only imagine what they'll do to a for-profit venture like this.

KaraTunes ReviewHas potential - Version: 2.3, 3/29/2005 05:16AM PST

I have been using KaraTunes for a couple of months. I believe the program has potential but needs more work. It does search the LyraTunes data base and pull up some lyrics. There are mistakes however, and a disappointing low number of lyrics found. The developer states he is working to include more lyric bases into the program which will help. It is advertised that Google searching is available, but I have not been able to get it to work for the data base as a whole and may just be on a tune by tune basis. I will continue to follow KaraTunes as I believe the developer has a good vision and may be able to come up with a great app.

KaraTunes ReviewCan't Register Product - Solved - Version: 2.3, 2/13/2005 10:03AM PST

If anyone using Panther, specifically 10.3.7 in my case, from a Non Admin account has a problem registering the app try this.

Quit Karatunes,
- Go to the preference file
- Get Info (cmd + I)
- Set Privileges to:
Owner (yourusername) Read & Write
Group (Admin) Read & Write
Others Read Only
- Then launch Karatunes and enter registration info

After that it should work fine. I did a permissions repair using disk utility, as per the developers suggestion but that didn't fix it. This is a very promising app and would now give it 4 stars, 5 if not for the registration problems

KaraTunes ReviewCan't Register Product - Version: 2.3, 2/13/2005 08:39AM PST

This looks like it would be great but registration has issues. The developer responded promptly even on a Sunday, Feb 6th, suggesting I repair permissions. I did but that didn't help. I responded back immediatly but I haven't heard anything in a week. Has anyone had this problem?

1- Launch KaraTunes
2- Get Error: WFD3
3- Click OK
4- Get "We Need Your Support" Dialog ( even though I entered the serial number already )
5- Click OK
6- Get Demo Dialog
7- Click OK
8- Select "Enter Serial Number..."
9- I enter my name and serial number
10- Click OK
11- Get Error: L1W
12- Get "Thank You For Your Support" Dialog
13- Click "Show All" (Then it shows more then 10 songs)
14- Quit
15- Error "Failed to write to preferences file"
16- Next Launch (Starts over on step 2)

This app is worthless if you can only have the lyrics to 10 songs especially when I paid for it to do more.

KaraTunes ReviewImporoved functions - Version: 2.3, 2/3/2005 08:34PM PST

otterbob
The Import from iTunes function is now reliable.

You can now import songs from playlists- Much cleaner than before.
And during the import, Karatunes will find lyrics on LyricTracker.com for you. A great time saver when lyrics are actually found.

That being said, your success is directly related to what is actually stored on LyricTracker compared to the music in your iTunes library.

I am hoping to see Karatunes do two more things:
1) Display the Lyrics in the iTunes Visualizer.
2) Be able to "train" Karatunes to move the lyrics to the music.

KaraTunes ReviewGood Job - Version: 2.2, 1/4/2005 10:37PM PST

It works as advertised.

No stability problems. This gets me closer to what I need.
The import tool has not worked for me, but I have a very large itunes library of 7000+ songs. The search and dowload button works-if the song you want lyrics for happens to exist on their lyric site. I find about 20% of lyrics from the canned search using the button. Otherwise, its easy to find a lyrics site and simply copy the lyrics over.
This will do until either Apple or a 3rd party finally gives us a reliable tool that will display lyrics in the visualizer.
