Product Description:

Dockyard is a "dock switcher" for Mac OS X. It allows you to have multiple docks and switch between them with one click. Instead of a normal application, Dockyard is a "menu extra" or "menulet," meaning it appears in your menu bar instead of as an application. Unlike my other programs, this is written in native Objective-C. You must get a program like Unsanity's Menu Extra Enabler to allow it to work, as a restriction on third-party menu extras has been imposed as of Mac OS 10.2. After you install one of these programs, just double-click on Dockyard.menu to launch it. From then on, it will always be in the right side of the menu bar. To remove Dockyard from the menu bar, command-drag it out. WARNING: A few flaky bugs continue to exist in Dockyard. It is strongly recommended that you back up your Dock before using it. If your Dock won't switch, try logging out and logging back in. Thanks to Cocoa Dev Central for their menu extra tutorial and Apple and mmalc for the drag and drop array controller.

What's new in this version:

  • Rename docks
  • Opening items in another dock from the menu bar

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.x
  • Unsanity's Menu Extra Enabler (or similar program)

Dockyard ReviewWonderful! - Version: 1.6.1, 2/17/2007 07:12PM PST

This is a REALLY nice piece of software! Obviously it's been around for awhile but I'm just now coming to it after deciding my dock was just getting too crowded. Now I can separate out the docks by category and, better yet, access my commonly used apps right from the menu bar. Worth every penny and then some! :-D

Once again, I have been e-mailed about a bug in Dockyard (it's user feedback that helps me catch them). If you cannot get it to launch in Mac OS X v10.3, and you downloaded your copy before September 3, 2005, please download it again. Sorry for the inconvenience!
