Product Description:

Together (formerly KIT - Keep It Together) is an application for storing, organizing, editing and previewing all kinds of files and can find them again quickly.

Just about anything can be dragged to Together's main window or Shelf for safe keeping. The Shelf is a system-wide window that appears as a tab on the side of the screen, which can also be used to browse and search the library, access favorites items and make quick notes.

Items can be organized into groups and folders. Folders work just like in the Finder, while groups can collect files from different places together, much like iTunes playlists. Items can be color-coded with labels and tagged. Smart Groups do the work of staying organized for you.

Together uses Spotlight to search the contents of all kinds of files as you type. Together can also encrypt documents, imports files in the background to ensure the library is always available and supports multiple libraries. Together can also sync with .Mac.

What's new in this version:

  • Previously added tags are now sorted by name in the Info view.
  • Performance improvements when checking files for external changes.
  • Fixed a problem where not all the resources for a web archive would be saved.
  • Fixed a problem where the Shortcut Recorder for Shelf and Import hot keys would not allow F-keys without any modifiers.
  • Fixed a problem that could cause Together to become unresponsive by emptying the Trash while showing search results that include items in the Trash.
  • Fixed a problem where search queries containing the boolean "NOT" operator would not work as expected.
  • Fixed a problem where search wouldn't work after switching libraries.
  • Fixed a problem where scroll bars would not be updated for Quick Look previews whose content changes size and the fonts used for some Quick Look previews.
  • Fixed a problem where Shelf Favorites would not update when the current library was switched.
  • Fixed a problem where dragging an item to a folder in the Shelf's Favorites section would cause Together to show the file as missing.
  • Fixed a problem where encrypted files that were being viewed before Together unexpectedly quit could not be hidden again after Together was relaunched.
  • Fixed a problem where PDFs could be displayed as blank after switching tabs.
  • Fixed a problem that could cause file imports to fail when a folder being imported needs to be renamed.
  • Fixed a problem on Mac OS X 10.5.5 where the Shelf would temporarily disappear whenever the Dock changes size.

Together ReviewBrilliiant - Version: 2.3.1, 12/1/2009 11:22AM PST

The best feature for me is Together's ability to import and show iWork docs - Pages, Numbers and Keynote - NONE of the competition can do this (MacJournal, Yojimbo, CircusPonies, or Journler for example) -it's just the best ans I've road testes them all!

Together CommentaryTried them all and Together rules 4 me! - Version: 2.2.9, 6/29/2009 08:25AM PST

Like the title says Together rules. One of the least talked about features is the ability to edit an imported Web Archive. I edit all of my Web Archive's and remove all the add's, comments and any unwanted information. Not only does this speed up loading of the Web Archive in the future because the web rendering engine doesn't have to go online and download the linked ad images but it saves much needed disk space. The developer is constantly improving and releasing updates. When was the last time Bare Bones software updated Yojimbo? Don't get me wrong Yojimbo is a great utility if you want a bare bones utility (no pun intended, honest) but if looking for a full featured saving utility then Together is the BEST!

Together ReviewBetter than Yojimbo - Version: 2.2.8, 4/25/2009 05:10AM PST

After using Yojimbo for years, I found Together had more things I wanted. The absolute BEST feature for me is being able to edit my web archives. After saving a webpage to Together, you can do things like remove unwanted ads and highlight any interesting text as you please. The other nice thing is it gives you handy font and color tools for editing your notes, which I use just to highlight things. (Hey, it might be nice if they added those same tools for webpage edits as well.) Yojimbo gave you no easy way to highlight your notes or edit your saved webpages. I also like the following things: you can save things using Services, you can add webpages from Safari by giving it a special link they call a "bookmarklet" and you can sync with MobileMe.

The only negatives about this program I would say are: using tags is a bit awkward (though I'm not a big tags person); you ought to be able to create, drag and drop tags effortlessly from the main view, instead of having to go into a special tags view and even there it's kind of clumsy. The other negative might be that it's a bit pricey, But it's worth it for me for the things that I want.
