I would pay good money for a version that will search the NCBI web-site, pubmed and blast searches in particular, with output organize in a similar way. It would be nice to have the ncbi data grouped by common keywords and/or protien and nucleic acid sequences.
THAT would excite me.
It does tend to shut down when taxed on OSX.2.8.
Although it was fairly easy to use, when I had a question on how to do something, I found the documentation lacking. I think the features are fine for general web searches, but for anything technical I can't see using it.
But to be fair, I although I won't use it because it does not do what I need, it is a pretty neat little tool. Maybe I am just not using it right and it can do what I want sans the graphs. The publisher could reply and I will reinvestigate if it does.

Agreed. This is just downright bad (as in good :) My neice was afflicted with Bell's Palsy. I wish I had this app back when I was originally doing research on it. Well executed and extremely useful.
I've tried researching a variety of topics with this, and do not see how its utility. As is, it only searches the web w/ a google search then returns a huge list of keywords that relate to the search.
Here's the problem: if I'm new to the search topic, I want a single source to introduce me to it, which is what google does. If I know the topic well and am doing in-depth searching, I could generate a better, more relevant list of keywords myself (in less time, btw). I could then google those keywords myself, which is all this does anyway.
The only value I can see in this program is in doing lots of parallel searches on related words. In that case, this does it all in one step. As is, however, there is far too much noise in the resulting keys, confusing the newcomer and annoyting the veteren.
HOWEVER, if this app was able to dig through abstracts at PubMed, ISI, Compendex and the like (as mentioned by previous review), as well as google, and then summaraize them all in a single index, it would make a wealthy man out of the developer.
