LaunchBar offers an amazingly intuitive way to control your computer. Just type a few letters of what you intend to do and LaunchBar will do it for you. And the best - it's lightning fast! Even before you can finish your thought of what to do next - it will be done. How does it work? LaunchBar is sitting in the background, ready to receive your keystrokes. You just hit Command-Space to attract its attention, enter a short, abbreviated description of what you're looking for, and a sophisticated, adaptive evaluation algorithm immediately offers the best matching choice from a list of thousands of possibilities. Start applications, open documents, invoke system services, compose emails or navigate the web - LaunchBar will be your essential servant.

What's new in this version:

Added support for Safari Bookmarks. To make the Safari Bookmarks accessible via LaunchBar you must add a corresponding entry to your LaunchBar configuration by clicking the "Add..." button in the configuration window.
Much improved Unicode support. Characters with diacritical marks (accented characters, German Umlauts, etc.) are now handled properly when searching for items. The non-diacritical form of a character can be entered as well to find the corresponding items, e.g. to find "�sterreich" you may enter "�ST" as well as "OST".
LaunchBar now adapts much faster to your preferred abbreviations. You can now re-assign an already used abbreviation to a new item simply by using this abbreviations twice with the new item.
The latest Chimera builds introduced a slightly modified bookmarks file format that was no longer recognized by LaunchBar. This problem has been fixed.
The buttons in the Quit dialog now appear in the "correct" order. The "Quit" button is now default, the Escape key can be used to cancel the dialog.
Some of the graphics appeared too dark (especially the blue background in the search result popup) due to embedded color profiles.
Clicking a System Menu (e.g. the "Volume" or the "Date & Time" menu) while the LaunchBar window is visible no longer deactivates the LaunchBar window.
Filesystem Browsing now properly considers the "Visible Rows" preference (the preference value is now taken into account if it exceeds the minimum of 16 rows that's used otherwise during Filesystem Browsing).
Some other bugfixes and improvements.

When I use other Macs I am lost without this software.

LaunchBar can do what other launchers do but the other stuff is just amazing. I haven't used spotlight directly in nearly two years (which is a blessing) and the ability to jump between locations, folders, programs and projects easily without having to think cannot be replicated easily using another launcher as far as I know.

I've been using this for years now, and though I have stuck with ver. 4.3.7 because it seems to be faster on my G3, I can totally recommend it as a must-have. Spend some time going through the documentation and playing around with it and you will be amazed at what it can do: open apps and folders, bookmarks, control iTunes, look up in Google, Amazon, etc., all from a tiny bar. Have tried similar freeware but keep coming back to this. It helps to peer under the hood, though, to really discover all the uses.
