Product Description:

LaunchBar is a productivity utility that offers an amazingly intuitive and efficient way to control your computer. It provides instant access to thousands of documents, folders, bookmarks, email addresses and phone numbers, applications and preference panes just by entering short abbreviations of the searched item's name.

You just hit Command-Space to bring LaunchBar's input window to front, enter an arbitrary abbreviation, and as soon as you start typing LaunchBar displays the best matching choices, ready to be opened immediately.

Start applications, open documents, invoke system services, compose emails or navigate the web - LaunchBar will be your essential servant.

What's new in this version:

  • The configuration menu now provides several shortcuts for updating the index, e.g. Command-1 scans for Applications, Command-2 scans your Address Books, etc.
  • Dragging items from the search result pop-up list no longer requires the Option key to be pressed.
  • The bar can now be kept horizontally centered. When the bar is is moved, it snaps to the horizontal screen center. A centered bar is resized to both directions simultaneously to retain its centered location.
  • Improved Address Book Scanner, considers the "This is a Company" setting, email addresses are now displayed with their Address Book labels.
  • Command-\ has been added to the list of activation hotkeys. Please note that on non-English keyboards this key may be labeled differently (e.g. Command-# on a German keyboard).
  • Once again, improved compatibility with the latest "nightly builds" of Camino. The Camino bookmarks file is now stored at a different location. In order to make LaunchBar aware of this new location it is necessary to update the LaunchBar configuration by removing and re-adding the Camino Bookmarks entry.
  • Command-Period can now be used to close or abort dialogs and to hide LaunchBar.
  • Cleaned up configuration interface.
  • The "Filetypes" pane in the configuration window has been renamed to "Filetype Collections".
  • The LaunchBar context menu has been rearranged.
  • Some other bugfixes and improvements.

LaunchBar ReviewSuperb product. - Version: 5.0.2, 11/15/2009 11:56AM PST

When I use other Macs I am lost without this software.

LaunchBar can do what other launchers do but the other stuff is just amazing. I haven't used spotlight directly in nearly two years (which is a blessing) and the ability to jump between locations, folders, programs and projects easily without having to think cannot be replicated easily using another launcher as far as I know.

Superb!
