Fax Status ReviewWorks as advertised - Version: 0.4, 9/1/2004 08:18PM PST

That about sums it up. It works like it says it will, and does what it says it does. Excellent product, and you can't beat that price.

Fax Status ReviewVERSION 0.4 DOESN'T WORK EITHER - Version: 0.4, 9/1/2004 09:00AM PST

I downloaded version 0.4, installed it, repaired permissions, and opened the application. This version responds exactly the same as did versions 0.3 and 0.3.1. IT DOES NOT WORK. (See my previous comments on version 0.3.1)

Fax Status Developer Noteif it doesn't work... - Version: 0.3.1, 8/31/2004 08:26PM PST

if it isn't working on your machine, your modem may have a slightly different init code. since that's what i'm looking for in the log... that'll cause failure.

if you find that FS doesn't work for you, please email me a copy of your efax log file, and i'll add the relevent codes to the application.

the file is /var/log/fax/cu.modem.log

Fax Status ReviewDoes Not Work - Version: 0.3.1, 8/31/2004 03:31PM PST

I installed 0.3.1 on my iBook PowerPC 750 with OS 10.3.5 installed. Per the suggestion below, I repaired the permissions. Although the tiny telephone icon appeared in the menu bar when the application was opened, there was no change in the icon when the fax was being received nor when the transmission of the fax had been completed.

I had previously installed version 0.3 and had obtained the same results.

Fax Status ReviewNot Working - Version: 0.3, 8/31/2004 06:33AM PST

Does not work with Pismo or 1GHz 17" iMac.

Also, it seems to mess up permissions in the applications and network folders. Be sure to repair permissions after installing.

After trying unsuccessfully to launch this app. I've found it frustrating. Should I try the new version or what? It downloaded ok, but won't launch when I try to use it, and I don't see any indication that it's working. What now? I'm using os X 10.3.5 on a power mac G4/eMac.

Fax Status CommentaryHas a fax arrived - Status please - Version: 0.2, 8/9/2004 03:42AM PST

Hi - please please - the most useful feature would be a flashing red phone to tell me that a fax has arrived. Tried and failed to make folder actions do this. Great little app. Best Regards,

Robert

got it. if you redownload now, it should work. now, if the log file doesn't exist yet, the FS installer will create it with the correct permissions.

Fax Status Developer Notehmmm - Version: 0.2, 8/7/2004 08:12AM PST

doce

i've received a few reports of this, but no one's given me enough useful information to definitively fix it yet. the problem seems to be that Panther may stick the log files in different locations under certain situations.

if you redownload now, the installer should complete.... but if you don't have a file at /var/log/fax/cu.modem.log, fax status simply won't work.

if you encounter this problem, please do a little sleuth work in the Terminal to find any files named "cu.modem.log" and let me know where it is and what machine, and what exact version of OS X you're running.

on the four macs i have here, and the dozens i have access to at my day job, every last one has the /var/log/cu.modem.log file, so I'm not sure yet when and where OS X might do different things.
