BatchRenamer ReviewBugs in setting regular expressions - Version: 0.86, 11/29/2006 10:18PM PST

This works great once you get the regular expressions entered. But its GUI got confused, and the field(s) for entering regular expressions weren't removed when you click the "-" button. Consequently, it was hard to tell if you entered the expression as expected. Sometimes, it used an old expression from a previous replace operation instead of the one entered. Quitting and relaunching fixed it.

On the other hand, it did blaze through 18 folders of ~50 icon files each with no problem once I got the regular expression set up.

If you understand regular expressions, this is the best renamer. It lets you set up not one but a series of regexes to be applied to each filename in the list and/or insert a sequence counter. The interface for shortening or extending the list of regexes is a bit wonky and did some odd things, or I'd give this 5 stars. Execution was very quick.

BatchRenamer ReviewA Real Timesaver - Version: 0.80, 8/2/2004 11:33AM PST

This is a very handy app in time of need: I had nearly 9000 .html files on my Mac which had been wrongly assigned .exe extension on a Windows server. BatchRenamer allowed me to reassign the correct extension to all the files within seconds.
The Help manual is lucid and well-documented.
