Product Description:

GmailStatus displays the number of unread messages in your Gmail inbox in the OS X menubar.

Other features:
  • User-definable hotkey opens Gmail inbox in browser.
  • Choose "Check now" to check for new messages at any time.
  • Choose "Open inbox" to open Gmail in your browser.
  • Choose "New message" to compose a new message in Gmail.
  • See labels and their unread count. Open labels in the browser.
  • Move the mouse over the menubar icon to see current account usage.
  • Use Gmail as your default application for writing messages.
  • Auto-checks for newer version.
  • Also works through a proxy (set proxy for http and https in your network settings)
  • Supported languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese

I love everything about this app except how awful it makes my menu bar look. Please move the number up a few pixels (to center) and give me the option of making the background the same gradient as my (non-translucent) menu bar. Please! Then it will be perfect.

1.1.0 works perfectly again in Tiger and Leopard. SO glad to have it back - I can't live without my Hotkey for the inbox. Pound for pound the best Gmail notifier there is.

The background color DESPERATELY needs the option to be transparent, though. It looks awful in Leopard's semi-transparent menu bar.

For those of you experiencing the "missing icon" in this neat little program, I'm happy to announce that it seems to be back again with the newest release. Just be sure you've enabled "IMAP" on your Google Mail account, and you should be all set.
