Works Great, Looks Terrible...

I love everything about this app except how awful it makes my menu bar look. Please move the number up a few pixels (to center) and give me the option of making the background the same gradient as my (non-translucent) menu bar. Please! Then it will be perfect.
Works again!

1.1.0 works perfectly again in Tiger and Leopard. SO glad to have it back - I can't live without my Hotkey for the inbox. Pound for pound the best Gmail notifier there is.
The background color DESPERATELY needs the option to be transparent, though. It looks awful in Leopard's semi-transparent menu bar.

For those of you experiencing the "missing icon" in this neat little program, I'm happy to announce that it seems to be back again with the newest release. Just be sure you've enabled "IMAP" on your Google Mail account, and you should be all set.
Why GmailStatus instead of Gmail Notifier? - Version: 1.1.0, 11/20/2007 03:38PM PST

Why use this instead of Google's own Notifier? Just curious...

Issues? - Version: 1.0.8, 11/14/2007 11:13PM PST

Is GmailStatus broken for anyone? I updated to the newest version and used it successfully for a few days, but it suddenly stopped checking for new mail. It gives a "Could not log into Gmail" error, but I know my login details are correct. I've trashed and reinstalled the app (and the preference files, etc.) several times, but I keep running into this issue. I wonder if the update to Gmail ("new version" or whatever they are calling the improved code) broke it. Any ideas?

Leopard appearance upgrade? - Version: 1.0.8, 11/2/2007 07:36AM PST

It would be much nicer if the background for the number display in the menu bar could be transparent. Right now I have to match the solid color as close as I can with the semi-transparent menu bar, and it looks pretty bad.
Otherwise, it's one of my must-have apps!

Yep, problems with 1.0.8 - Version: 1.0.8, 10/29/2007 08:35AM PST

Using Tiger 10.4.10, the menu bar icon doesn't appear - there's a space for it, and the menu drops down from that space as it's supposed to, but there's no information about how many posts I have unread. I tried changing the foreground/background colours in preferences, to see if that might help. It doesn't.
Also, the Layers submenu doesn't appear.
1.0.7 worked (and is now working) perfectly. Recommended on that basis.

1.0.8 doesn't show in the menu bar on Mac OS X 10.4. It is there, but looks like an empty space. If you click in the space, the menu appears, but whatever I change in the appearance settings, it still doesn't show.
Give it a chance... - Version: 1.0.7, 5/30/2006 04:39AM PST

In my experience with Gmail, any changes made on the Google side don't necessarily reach all accounts at once. I downloaded 1.0.7 when it came out and found that it didn't work whilst 1.0.6 remained functional. Recently, 1.0.6 stopped working (reports 0 messages) but 1.0.7 works. So you may just need to judge when to make your own switchover rather than upgrading automatically.

This is still my favorite Gmail tool. I love the hotkey feature. It would be nice if the next version could display the message subjects, but other than that this is a great timesaver. P.S: If version 1.0.7 does not work for use the previous one (1.0.6)
