Nicotine CommentaryNo Good. - Version: 1.0.8rc3, 2/2/2007 02:47PM PST

guicps
Okay... I download the Application, it then becomes a folder, I execute the application itself, X11 starts shortly thereafter... Nicotine icon goes away(gets closed?), I get then a terminal window for commands... ? No interface...
Does this application NOT work on Intel based Macs?
Thanks

My X11 is configured correctly and works, but this just opens X11 and a terminal. No interface. Tried several times.

I have no idea what this application is. I thought it was a normal P2P, but it's one of those geekware X11 things. I can tell you that it opens just fine in OS 10.4.2. I just don't know what to do with it after that.

Nicotine ReviewWorks great - Version: 1.0, 2/11/2005 07:49PM PST

I am very grateful to the developer for packaging this for OS X. I spent hours trying to compile nicotine and failed. I will probably be switching to the native OS X client ssX when it becomes as robust as nicotine, but I wanted to take this opportunity to say "Thank you."

Nicotine ReviewI like it - Version: 1.0, 1/24/2005 03:41AM PST

The Memory Hole
I have been using this for about a week now. It works great. I have not had any connection issues, and while the GUI is definitely not the prettiest, it works. And, unlike SoulseekX (which I have had trouble in the past of even getting to connect) and SolarSeek, it is able to take advantage of all of SoulSeek's offerings. Give it a try.

A few complaints though... clicking the Nicotine icon in the dock does not bring the application to the front (if it is behind other windows), and it seems to have trouble recognizing characters such "æ". Anyway, still a good application IMHO.

Nicotine CommentaryThis download is too large - Version: 1.0, 12/3/2004 08:48AM PST

I'm totally discouraged from trying this because the file is too large to download and try out "quickly."
