If all you need to do is browse the Gantt Chart and its grid from an MS Project (.mpp) file, this is a nice and easy app. Lets you filter the rows based on Status, Type (e.g. Milestone/Summary), Date (limited options), Level and Resource.

Installs easily. There is no trial version, but the web site promises 30-day return; the license includes 1 year of upgrades (DISCLAIMER: see the web site yourself, don't rely on my word).

The Menu is more microsofty, not Mac-like at all: File, Edit, View, Help in the app window instead of at the top of the screen. No help file included, though I don't think it is needed, the GUI is so simple.

Cannot control which columns show up in the grid, and the labeling options for the Gantt Chart are limited.
