Google produces a program for the Mac. You can use the GMail Notifier to do exactly the same thing as Gmailto.

I downloaded the Notifier and it works great!

downloaded and tried it. It opens Gmail and that's it. No address inserted, nothing.

Worked well in 10.3, but only opens inbox in 10.4.
