Media Rage Reviewbad support and missing id3tages - Version: 3.4.4, 8/19/2009 03:38AM PST

Media rage use to be good or so I thought. until i this aug, i statered to try to put id3 tages to my music, I was batch processing about 2000 songs.. media rage would crash EVERY SINGLE TIME.. restarted the computer, i even thought well maybe it is something in my computer , something i installed that is having an issue with media rage.. Reinstall leopard 10.5.7 Still crashed.. new system nothing installed other then, leopard and media rage.. Still crashing all the time.. did about 200 files.. crashed. did about 50 , didn't crash, started "Pinning" multi, files as in artist name, album title, id3 tages, and album artwork so that it would be the same for all that album. well everything was going fine, even thought it would not work with many files,

The out come was that many id3 tages were broken, some COULD NOT BE WRITTEN TO.. which is the biggest problem, it would do like 80% of the tages correctly and then the rest it would not write anything to .. I tried those songs that media rage could not write to, in itunes.. I tunes wrote the tages correctly ..

Here is the really bad apart.. I have tried to contact there support dept, 5 TIMES.. in 1 month asking why it is happening and how to fix this.. NO ANSWER.. not one time did they send me back a reply.. there support sucks.. and i bought this.. what a waste of money.. REALLY waste..

If you are looking to buy this app, PLEASE don't get screwed like i did.. email there support department.. , make a test.. say you would like to know if it will batch process 100 files.. see if they answer you . HHA. good luck.. Sh*t company there are.. Really . NO SUPPORT.. crashes with big number of files, which you know is not so big of a deal but that it does not WRITE to every file SUCKS..i even tried writing to the file one by one.. opening a new window in media rage.. for each file that can notbe written to . nothing worked.. So I tried 2 other apps..

The first is like media rage but much much more powerful, ( it did crash also but not as much)
it is called. "jaikoz" the other which was simpler but worked great and cheaper and DID EVERY FILE.. 300, 3000 NO PROBLEM. no crashes.. was called. "ID3 Editor" the only problem i had was figuring out how to keep the lyrics in the songs,, for example if there were already written in my original music file. seems that ID3 Editor would not keep them or import them in..maybe was me.. but in the end.. i never did figure it out.. but it atleast wrote all the tags and never crashes.. MEDIA RAGES.. sucks.. compared to these to other apps.. check them both out before buying media rage.. and the support.. sucks.. at media rage.. I mean really sucks.. I never thought it would maybe this is just in the last months.. but there is not support.. and breaking or not writing id3 tages.. well that is the worst of it.. Hope this helps someone..

Media Rage Troubleshooting ReportUnable to get trial to work - Version: 3.2, 10/31/2007 01:26AM PST

Id tried MediaRage 2.9 and wasnt that impressed, (personally I prefer Jaikoz because it can autofix your songs and has free upgrades and support) but I thought Id try out 3.2 but it wont let me complaining my license has expired. I presume this is because I had 2.9 installed previously but that shouldnt prevent me trying out the latest version, especially when an ugrade fee is payable from version 2 to version 3, and the trial only last seven days.

Media Rage Commentarybreaks some tags? - Version: 3.0, 3/9/2007 11:04AM PST

Is it me or what?
I gave Media Rage a try on a copy of my iTunes library, made some mass modifications such as converting all tags to v2.4.0 and some other tests. But suddenly I noticed that many files had broken tags: although still in the file, MP3 Rage couldn't find them back and showed no more info about the file, as if no more tag was present. iTunes couldn't acces tag data, either. The tags are still there, with just a few bytes per file changed, and this broke the tags. This occured on seemingly random files, not all. I'd say about 1/10 of them, roughly.

Media Rage ReviewStill doesn't support international characters - Version: 2.6.1, 11/9/2006 03:15AM PST

I have heaps of songs with asian characters in the tags. I'd love to use this program to retag them, the albums are all in FreeDB (i've checked) but MediaRage can't display them.

When it can, instant sale, but I told them about this a year ago and it still can't. Sorry guys, no sale.

Media Rage ReviewGreat!!! I love it. - Version: 2.5, 8/30/2006 09:58PM PST

I've used MP3 rage for a few years and decided to give this a try b/c itunes has really been getting on my nerves lately. Seems itunes has a problem giving mp3 tags and remembering aif tags if the songs were ripped in previous versions, which means manually entering the information all over again. Sheesh.

Until now.

The song lookup feature is worth the price of this software alone. Load your untagged song files, look up the album and tag away.

Beautiful.

Another awesome feature: artwork lookup. Nice interface and very effective. What a timesaver!

Using an iMac Intel w/ OS 10.4.7, btw.

Media Rage CommentaryFreeDB lookup = HUGE cpu hog = freeze my machine - Version: 2.5, 7/19/2006 08:21PM PST

Great program, but be very careful with the FreeDB lookup... or, rather, expect to have to reboot your machine frequently. I have a 1.25GHz G4 MDD, maybe it's not the latest & greatest but it's not exactly underpowered. It's connected to the internet by a sweeeet 6MBit pipe. But when I do a search for something with a lot of results - like, say, a search for "Rolling Stones" - using the FreeDB tagger, it freezes not just the program, but my entire machine. I can't use the dock, I can't use any other programs, I can't force-quit anything, sometimes the mouse even stops moving. My only chocse is to force-reboot my machine by holding in the power button for a few seconds. Not cool.

There's no reason an online database lookup should do this to my machine.

Media Rage Troubleshooting Reportv2.4 Not Compatible With 10.2.8 - Version: 2.4, 4/28/2006 08:38AM PST

"This application cannot be launched because this system is incompatible"

This is the message box that pops up when you try to run v2.4 on Mac OS X 10.2.8. I will notify the developer, who still claim 10.2.8 compatibility on their website.

This is a highly recommended piece of software. Using this in combination with "A Better Finder Rename", I have massively simplified the process of ripping lecture CDs into iTunes. Very intuitive interface. Thanks!

This program has one of the smartest ideas i've seen in a long time. There is a tool called FreeDB lookup that will pull albums from the internet and match them with the songs you have and populate the tag information with the results. It's making cleaning up my collection less of a chore. I just bought the program and it's great.
