gCount ReviewSimple, useful, close to perfect. - Version: 0.5, 5/7/2005 10:01AM PST

Pretty great little app to hideout in the menu bar and check my gmail account every once in a while. However, for only checking my email once an hour, it is currently eating 70MB of physical memory and 260MB of virtual memory, seems a bit excessive for such a tiny and intermittant application.

A great little application, however it will tell me that I have new mail when I don't - and then once I've logged into my account it still says I have unread email (which I don't).

Got freaked out when it tried to connect to some university server, but then I figured out it was just checking for updates. I prefer when software asks me before connecting, and I even had deselected the 'check for updates at launch'...
Seems kinda shady, but nevertheless, this app works.

gCount ReviewGood job. - Version: 0.5, 3/19/2005 07:32PM PST

Has worked perfectly on 10.3.8 for the last two weeks, except for one time when it hung up and caused the CPU to run at 90%, consequently melting the base of my Powerbook onto my thighs.

Growl support is good, nice subtle icon sits in the menu bar, easy to set up, and it works.
I like it.

gCount ReviewI don't even know what to say.. - Version: 0.5, 2/28/2005 08:59PM PST

I love this product! It is minimalistic and it features every single thing I was looking for, except one. This is why I'm not about give you a 5.

I think that in a next version, you really need to display who the messages are from, and maybe the subject.

Other than that, once again, I love it!

gCount runs fine until I get an e-mail and the icon changes to let me know. I click the dock icon to check my mail, everything works fine, but gCount won't update the icon now. If I try to do a manual update, I get the "..." icon in the menu bar, and it stays there until I restart the app.
