SharedPlan Project Management ReviewGood idea, but - Version: 1.11.1, 12/27/2006 08:45AM PST

too limited and a really clunky (nd ugly) interface. I like the MacProject-like ease of graphical task creation, but there's no double-clicking to open the task info editor, there are no control-click functions, no multiple task selection, no grid alignment, etc. etc. Printing is silly, having to switch back and forth between print preview and print scaling windows (closing and opening each to switch every time), and there's no "scale to x pages wide by y pages high" auto-scale option. Reports are limited and tasks/milestones are not listed in chronological order. Unuseable for my purposes and overpriced. Back to Merlin2. The registration process is annoying and the whole thing is confusing between shareplan.net, sharedplan.com, proplan, etc. Built-in help is negligible.

I have purchased the personal version of SP and found installation and registration very easy. My disappointment has been in the limitations of the personal version that were not apparent in the SP comparison charts. I have not found a way to use any of the resource cost data. It may be of value to enter the data for a team where there is one Pro version to analyse the costs, however the personal versions can only use the data for a reference. The Gantt chart is only editable in Pro, and that feature and cost reporting may make the move from personal to Pro SP a must. The help manual is too succinct to the point of appearing to be a features list only.

I don't normally post to these forums but, I read a couple of the reviews below and wanted to add my feedback since it is completely opposite from some of that described below.

For $70 (we bought a couple of copies), this is an excellent tool and it works exactly as described on their web page and in the documentation. I guess that if people don't read that info then they may not find what they want but I don't think that's the fault of the software.

Anyway, it installed right off and is stable and consistent. Better than anything else I've found in this price range.

I'm using it on 10.4.
