Fabulous product. It is ideal in my view: it makes using your Mac simpler, but you otherwise don't notice it. That is, it's simply there, doing what you need, without having to invoke it (once you set it up).

One of the chief ways I use it: I have a series of important documents I keep on a USB flash drive (so I can work on them on my G5 and my PowerBook). Since I have a bunch of flash drives around, I back up the docs to two of them. With DSW, when I plug the backup flash drives in, Synk (the wonderful freeware version) is automatically launched, allowing me to back up with a click. DSW then unmounts the backup drive when I quit Synk. Flawless.

I, too, found I had a problem updating to 1.1.1 (from 1.0.2), so that drops the rating for Ease of Use a bit, but otherwise it's 5 stars in all categories.

Do Something When Troubleshooting Reportinstaller flaws & bugs - Version: 1.1.1, 1/10/2006 08:07AM PST

1) the installer doesn't do its job as it should: it won't install in my home/library, only in the main Library folder BUT it won't work from that installed location (at least not when your home folder is on a different volume) so you have to manually move it to ~/Library.
2) there is no uninstall, which is very much needed: see (3)
3) the upgrade doesn't work - you have to manually first remove the prefPane AND the prefs (com.azarhi.DoSomethingWhen.plist) to make it work. This means you have to start from scratch with your rules.
4) you can't change the delay of a rule, unless you also change something else (like the name) otherwise the SAVE button will remain greyed-out.

Do Something When ReviewWonderful application! - Version: 1.1.1, 11/14/2005 07:07AM PST

Froggies--2008
I use it mainly to open Carbon Copy Cloner when I mount my backup drive, and to open Airfoil when I start Windows Media Player. Works perfectly every time. A great piece of software!

Call-151
After using 1.02 without difficulty, I was unable to get 1.1 to run under Tiger (10.4.2). After several emails back and forth with the developer, we finally got it working. His replies were almost instantaneous. If anyone has a similar problem, try trashing your old rules (Users/username/library/preferences/com.azarhi.DoSomethingWhen.plist. (You'll have to manually re-enter your rules after you do this, so you might want to writhe them down first.)

The Automatically Start on Login preference isn't sticking. Can you look into this?

Should've emailed the developer first! His hosting provider let him down, and he offered to email a copy to me.

The URL points to ftp.azarhi.com/dsw, but there is no directory dsw at ftp.azarhi.com, only a link called ftp that seems to point back to itself.

I should've been a little more clear... the "volume mounts" feature works, but it's the "volume unmounts" that doesn't work, regardless of whether I'm using a local external hard drive or a network drive.

I was excited about this product, but to my dismay it won't work!
Running 10.3.7.

For example, I want to keep a network volume mounted all the time. I created an applescript (saved it as a run-only application) that will mount the volume. I set up DSW to watch for when the volume unmounts, and then launch the applescript application to re-mount the volume. Nothing. Nada. Dead. But when I manually launch the applescript app, it works just fine. Hmmm?
