ByteController Commentaryfixed my crashes - Version: 0.8.6, 5/21/2007 12:50PM PST

It looks like updating from 0.8.5 to 0.8.6 fixed the crashing on my macbook pro.
The 0.8.5 version would work fine for a while but then it would just disappear from the menu bar after a while.
So far this new 0.8.6 version has been running steadily all day. Thanks!

ByteController Commentaryits great but... - Version: 0.8.5, 9/13/2006 01:54PM PST

Chi-Chi Marina
This program keeps quitting itself after about 20 minutes. It is open, working great, and then i go the track with the keyboard shortcut and it doesn't work, and i look up and the controls in the menu bar are gone, because the program quit, and i have to reopen it again. It's lame.

ByteController ReviewVery nice - Version: 0.8.5, 7/29/2006 05:01PM PST

Does exactly what it says it will do. Uses virtually nil CPU. Has all the right preferences. Free. Very good. Probably should be built into iTunes.

I am impressed, this is not bloated, or over consuming of CPU. Works like synergy only free.. Keep this free and it will be the best out there.

ByteController Troubleshooting ReportTiger Problem (?) - Version: 0.8, 6/7/2005 11:08AM PST

hydoubtx
I haven't researched this that much (as in checking the programmer's web-site), but I think there could be a slight problem under Tiger.

When I was using ByteController under Panther it was awesome, gotta say I love it.

But now the buttons seem to have to be pressed in a very precise location to work. Since Tiger, it takes a few clicks on the button to find the location where the button responds to a mouse-click. (On the Play button for instance you have to be nearly dead-center). Anyone else experiencing this in Tiger?

ByteController ReviewOnly needs current song display - Version: 0.8, 1/20/2005 05:59PM PST

I agree. This is a near-perfect app. Well done! What would make it perfect? In my mind, it only needs a scrolling window for the current song and maybe the ability to rate the current song.

ByteController ReviewNear perfection - Version: 0.8, 1/8/2005 12:03PM PST

This is so close to being perfect; you can control iTunes using buttons in the menu and also keyboard shortcuts. It's quicker than Synergy when switching tracks, which I find, is Synergy's only downfall (apart from not being free).

The only thing I miss from Synergy is the tooltip of what track currently playing - you can hover over the play/pause button and a yellow box will show. If the developer added this feature then ByteController would be perfect.

Still, highly recommended little app. If you want something that isn't bloated and sluggish like Synergy, download this.
