Product Description:

You can load a JPEG or GIF image and convert it into an HTML table. It's an interesting idea, and it actually does work. But my little test image of about 9KB, 338x274 pixels blew out to about 2.6MB, and took about 2 minutes to render in Camino on my 2 year old PowerMac tower. Zipping it brought it down to about 162KB.

In terms of practical use, the only thing I can think of is that some companies block binary files coming in, including jpg, gif, etc. So, you could convert it to HTML, send it (attached or inline) and it should get through. But that would probably raise other eyebrows, like, why is a 2MB text file coming through email. If you sent it zipped, it would probably be blocked anyway.

Still it's a fascinating exercise, and like I said, it really does work, but I hope this doesn't become a common occurance on the web, as it will just be painfully slow.
