php include files - Version: 1.2.1, 3/6/2006 10:27AM PST
beeble
It doesn't work with include files. The method Tag uses to render the php code seems to generate a temporary file before running it through php. php then can't find the include files because their paths are invalid.
So far . . .

This is hitting the sweet spot.
Not too much, not too little. Very strong entry.

I tried this application out just to compare its features with HyperEdit. So far my HyperEdit isn't going anywhere fast.
While having the Live Preview is great, an implementation more like HyperEdit would make this feature a lot better (truly "live"previewing). Code completion and the snippets feature (name strikingly familiar to HyerEdit's "Code Snippets") are nice features of the application but could be implemented a little better.
Overall a decent app that could use some work to deliver on what is implied and eventually earn a spot on my hard drive.

Not Bad.

Yeah, Tag is nice. It's a beautifully rendered application with lots of little things that web developers are sure to love. The "Snippets" feature is nice, as well as the "Table editor," I really like the fact that you can create your own code styles for highlighting of text.
But the harsh reality of it is that Tag is really no better that SubEthaEdit for the vast majority of people. While some developers will find the few well-implemented features mentioned above useful and enough to justify the cost, I suspect that most, like me, will not. SubEthaEdit is simply too close to providing all these features for free. Yeah, Tag is nice... but not $20 nicer that SubEthaEdit.

I've been a PageSpinner user for about, uh, almost 10 years now. This makes me realize that there is soo much more that can be done with an editor. I've been waiting for something like this and HyperEdit. But Tag has Snippets and Auto Complete and Color Styles and a great interface. I love it, but... I use PageSpinner's HTML Assistant like crazy. it is incredibly easy to fill out forms to generate your link or image tag. Snippets make it easy, and I wouldn't take away that feature, but I will have a hard time leaving PageSpinner's assistant. Please help me leave PageSpinner.
Excellent START... Needs Work

This seems to be an excellent start for a web development app, but it needs a lot of additional work. The AutoComplete feature is very inconsistent, not allowing direct insertions as one would expect. It also makes typing normally difficult. The interface is well done and Aqua-beautiful, but the program is somewhat lacking in features for its price tag. The "Code Help Browser" is little more than a browser window with web tutorial bookmarks. I've been looking for an application to replace DreamWeaver, but until this one matures a bit I'll keep looking.

This is the best html editor that I've used in recent memory. One problem... when I open a (not live) preview, the file that opens is
file:///Users/{UserName}/Library/Application%20Support/Tag/Temporary%20Preview/Temporary.html
This is bad if I'm using relative links to css/images/etc, because they'll obviously be broken.
Other than that, excellent work!

This is Mark Davis from Realmac Software, creator of the tool RapidWeaver. Tag is the perfect application for HTML editing, and when I say perfect I mean it. The interface is beautiful and the tools (snippets, color picker, etc) were well thought out. Tag and CSSEdit by MacRabbit are the perfect pair for web development and I wouldn't change anything about them.
