iBackup CommentaryWorks perfectly for backing-up personal files - Version: 6.4.1, 3/31/2008 11:18AM PST

Great work on creating profiles, storing network paths/user IDs, auto connect/disconnect. Requires no training at all. Just go to Manage Profiles, pick you dirs/files, set your target, schedules, etc, and zoom, you're off and running. And best of all - it can store your backups as .zip files so you are never STUCK with a backup application in order to perform a restore!
Love it!

It doesn't do the encrypting I set it to do. Under OSX.5.2. It doesn't do any encrypting at all as far as I could see. Nothing happened. Looks like it copies every file without altering even one bit in them. And everything completely in the clear. So no compressing – i.o.w. no space saving – and no security. That makes the 'backup' useless for secure offline, off premises storage under third party control/access (a buddy's RAID system).

So, bottomline: for me iBackup didn't do ANYTHING it said it would . . . !
iBackup wasted my time.

And since Time Machine also doesn't accomodate encrypted standalone backup files, Carbon Copy Cloner is still the champ here. Let's hear it for old faithfull!!!

iBackup ReviewNo problems here - Version: 6.4, 3/19/2008 05:36AM PST

The last update gave me problems with Applescript errors, but this one is fine for me with 10.4.11. Good application. I like the way you can use plugins to back up preferences and other files associated with specific programs. The interface is very clear and the program is easy to use. Not for clones though, just User backups. Recommended.
