Lifesaver! Wish it worked in Leopard.

This application finally ended years of frustration with Apple's dock. I hate the dock, I don't want the dock, but on VERY rare occasions, I NEED the dock (like when I accidentally window-shade (Er, sorry "yellow ball") an application's window and it shrinks into the dock.
I absolutely rely on KnockOutDock to rid myself of the ever-popping-up dock.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work in Leopard.
PLEASE upgrade this to work with Leopard!!!

At last I can be rid of that dam thing, when I first got OSX I didn't mind the dock but it got more & more annoying, always getting in the way & popping up at the worst possible moment. I used Onyx to hide it under the top menubar but it still managed to rear it's ugly head now & then just to taunt me! I now use DragThing or FruitMenu, both work well, the latter being more
of a sexed-up Apple Menu if you like the OS9 vibe, or DragThing being exactly what the OSX dock SHOULD have been but never was.

Superb little addition. The normal Dock used to get in the way and this hides it until you realy need it, better than the 'hide doc' in prefs, also it doesn't upset or remove any of the normal doc prefs.
Key command activation of hidden dock - Version: 1.2, 8/28/2006 06:39PM PST

This was obvious to me, but some people asked for a hot-key feature to show the hidden dock. Apple's default key combo is: command-option-d
You could remap this to an f-key using 'Menu Master' from Unsanity

Sorry to all you early adopters of OS ECKS, but I absolutely despise the interface - especially the centrepiece of it, the dock. As a result, I only recently converted to OS ECKS. Apple should take a lesson from Microsoft here - if you don't like the new OS interface, allow people to go back without much fuss.
Anyway, KnockoutDock works fantastic and in conjunction with Unsanity's FruitMenu and Butler, I can have workable interface tools that don't take up room they don't need to. And yes, Exposé still works - unlike some similar apps this keeps it unbroken. I would pay for this - I hate Aqua so much...

conflicts with Quicken - Version: 1.2, 5/29/2006 03:14PM PST

KnockoutDock is great! I give it 5 stars, and love using it.
However, I just discovered a conflict with Quicken 2006. When I activate KnockoutDock it causes a gap between the toolbar and any open window in Quicken. This gap is about 1/2 inch wide. No other problem that I can tell, just this weird gap.
I was emailing Quicken's support to try to fix it and finally erased my drive and started over to see if some kind of hidden preference file for Quicken was causing the problem. After erasing and installing Tiger, I installed Quicken and everything was fine. Then because I like KnockoutDock so much, I installed it and then Quicken had the problem again. Uninstall KnockoutDock and the gap is gone.
I hope I have diagnosed this correctly and the problem is with these two programs. And it might be Quicken with the problem, I am emailing them as well but I hope either the author or someone else can verify and resolve this because as I said, I REALLY like what KnockoutDock does.
Thanks for any help,
Dan-

Very useful - I suggest an F-key to activate it - Version: 1.2, 3/17/2006 01:29AM PST

Hi, It's very useful.I suggest a user F-key (i.e "F2") to rapidly show and hide the mini dock, like Exposè, or a hover-button on the top bar, near the other system icons..
I put a proposal

This does the same thing that Cocktail's Dock pref pane: top/end does except that it can be edited as below, but the developer doesn't even realize that therein he's struck gold.
I edited the Apple Script to reduce my icon size to one pixel, and now, whenever the damned dock does rear its ugly head it's a (functional) tiny box (about 1/4"x5/16") all the way deep in the top right corner of my screen. Way more often than not I don't even see it.
And the BEAUTIFUL THING is that unlike DockBlock it DOES NOT disable Expose.
Virtually no Dock + functional Expose! WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW,WOW!!!

The "standalone" works (in both directions) in Leopard!
