DVD Database X Troubleshooting ReportDVD Database X will not retrieve data - Version: 1.7.2, 11/16/2009 09:03AM PST

I have an iBook G4, OS 10.4.11 and use Safari 4.0.3. I purchased DVD Database X, version 1.7.2 for OSX in June of 2009. After installing it, I was able to retrieve information from Amazon, but not IMDB. After an IMDB title search is completed, I am told that there is 1 IMDB result, yet nothing shows up in the larger movie title/IMBD URL window for me to click on. The only text that shows up, is in the small section labled "Title" below, and then I only get the words "IMDb Search," and not a movie title where it should be. Everything else on the page is blank. When I access the preferences to update the IMDB script, I am told I have the updated script version 1.9 installed. Since June, no matter how many times I have clicked to update the script, I am told that the latest script version 1.9 is installed.

I decided not to bother with the IMDB problem as I was happy getting my data from Amazon. In mid-August, when I tried to add some DVD titles, and retrieve online info in the usual manner, I couldn't get any data from either IMDB or Amazon. I tried several ways of getting the program to work without success. Although the program says it is searching Amazon.com, it always comes back with "0 Amazon Results Found." The only way I have been able to enter any new DVD titles into the program is to manually fill in the info on a blank page. It kind of defeats the purpose of having the program.

When I couldn't get the program to work, I wrote the writer of the program at the email address provided in the "About DVD Database X" section in the Menu Bar, explained the problem, and requested advice. I never received a response. I wrote him again in September, and still didn't receive a response. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem with this program. Since the only software I install on my iBook G4, is the regular updates issued by Apple. I am wondering if there may be a conflict that occurred with one of those updates. I am not pleased with the writer who had no problem accepting my payment, but can't be bothered to respond to my emails. Even if he knew of no known issues, I would have been happy to at least have received a response. I've searched for troubleshooting and problems with this program, but have come up empty handed.

DVD Database X ReviewThis is the best $20 I ever spent for a piece of software - Version: 1.7.0, 9/24/2005 12:07PM PST

I own 800 DVDs and used to track them with an excel workbook. I started using DVD Database X with 1.5 and while I loved all the added information I was able to add to my database the performance was slow. Version 1.6 was a big improvement in search time and the 1.7 interface is fantastic. I have entered all of my DVDs in the database and the software made it easy.
