Radeon Enabler CommentaryGeez! Read the readme file! - Version: 1.1.1, 7/9/2004 02:07PM PST

From the readme:

Please note that hardware dependent features such as “Versavision” and “TV-Out” will not function for OEM or onboard chipsets. They lack the hardware support needed for these functions.

and...

When you open the ATI Displays control panel, you might receive this error alert:

"A startup problem has occurred. You have an old version of ATI TVOut Kernel Extension. Some features are not available."

Ignore the error. The error, although poorly worded, is indicating that the application is having trouble communicating with the TVOut functions of the video card. Since OEM cards don't have TVOut hardware, you can safely ignore this (annoying) error message.

Radeon Enabler Usage TipDon't Worry about the error message when starting the utility - Version: 1.1.1, 7/9/2004 05:47AM PST

The error message when starting the utility is just an artifact of not having exactly the same card that the ATI utility expects. Remember this is an unsupported patch not a standalone program. Just disregard the error about TV out.

Looks like I'm just under the wire with my Radeon 7000 in a B/W G3.

The developer was kind enough to help me here. I didn't realize that I had to install the update (4.25) before patching. 5 Stars for a great app.

Radeon Enabler CommentaryCan Someone help me with this install? - Version: 1.1.1, 7/7/2004 03:03PM PST

I would love to install this enabler. I have a G5 with ATI 9600 Pro. I do not see it named as such in my System Profiler. It is named ATY,RV350 I understand that this is nomenclature used by Apple for some strange reason . I downloaded the enabler and following instructions downloaded the ATI uodate 4.25. I placed that in my utilities folder. I found no ATI folder in my Utilities folder. Ithen selected this update App in my folder when Enabler asked me to choose the ATI driver I want to update. I then got the message that it could not install the enabler using a "patched" file and wants me to select an unpatched one. I am at a loss to figure this out as I can't find the very thing the Enabler is asking for. Please pardon my ignorance here but I would appreciate someone savant in this install to help me.

Radeon Enabler CommentaryStill No 7200 ( original OEM Radeon ) Support - Version: 1.1, 6/18/2004 03:46PM PST

ironhawk
The 7200 remains the only OEM card not supported unsupported by this software. Considering it's a faster chipset than the 7500, I'd think it's worth the added support, but apparently not =/

Radeon Enabler Troubleshooting ReportATI Displays 4.2.5 crashes upon launch - Version: 1.1, 6/18/2004 07:47AM PST

macalterego
Prior to installing the patch, the control panel would boot up on my 1Ghz TiBook, but remind me that it was 'limited' as it was using an older version of the kext. After the patch, it refuses to complete launch and the Crash Report comes up. So, I think there are, as yet, some issues with the mobility version. I also use my PowerBook with two external 20" LCDs, via the external DVI and a VillageTronic VTBook 32MB PCI card. So perhaps it has difficulties with that setup.
