since this is based on php and mysql ... what is the added value compared to freeware (opensource) like phpgedview?
Also, PHPGEDVIEW provides even more features, have larger install base and has a cost of 0$.
Seriously, have a look at phpgedview and join a large group of web based gedcom genealogy users.

The Best Web Solution for Genealogy

For me, TNG 6.2 is the Best Web Solution for genealogy. I had no idea that such a software existed. Moreover, the support and documentation are absolutely great. I work with the French package and I am impressed with the results. You may use a different desktop software to build your family tree locally and generate a gedcom file, but if you also want to build a fast and dynamic website, TNG is the way to go.

TNG is a superb piece of software. If you like quick, personal, relevant, helpful, reponses to your questions then get this program. If you would rather receive feed-back from an impersonal computer then Darrin Lythgoe's PHP designed genealogy program is not for you.

I cannot contact the developer on their email address, it keeps bouncing back, most worrying.

Some desktop versions are good, but having on the web is great. The whole family, those online anyway, can add to the background, review it, etc.
Love it. Easy to install, even if no php, mysql, or html background.
Easy to get up and running, add, edit data, flexible, etc.
Support is great. Darrin is very good. Some knowledgeable folks on forum and maillist too!
I got it up and running in minutes, live, then quickly added several people, photos, added my own website elements (e.g. banner photo). Dome some tweaks, added reports, etc. since.
Highly recommend it.

I am using 5.0.5 which is not a listed version but is the latest

I have been using TNG a bit over a year now - it is a truly awesome product at a great price. And it comes with absolutely outstanding support from the author who often responds to eMails within minutes, and at the latest within a few hours in most cases.
I'm using it on my G4 under Mac OS X after having followed the November 2002 MacWorld magazine instructions on how to set up PHP/mySQL in Mac OS X.

Interface is not "clean" and somehow misleading ...
reports are limited ...
browsing ... searching ... the genealogy data is not intuitive ...
This could be better (even trough the web !!!)
