a poor port of a windows programme that hasn't been updated since os x 10.2, and an uninstaller that doesn't uninstall. plus, a potential problem where whole whack of prefs files (safari, address book, textedit) got corrupted when running it on 10.4.
this is definitely not worth using, let alone paying them a shareware fee!

For those that have tried to uninstall this awful application only to find out that the uninstaller doesn't work and that manual removal of files doesn't solve the problem, I believe I found a solution!
I have not been able to test it out for sure because not all files downloads opened DAP and I can't remember exactly which files caused it to launch (if anyone has one in particular that causes it to open please give me the link so I can test it out...)
Simply open terminal and type the following command:
sudo -u USERNAME /Volumes/DAP/uninstall.app/Contents/MacOS/uninstall &
just replace USERNAME with your current user name, and make sure that you have the DAP dmg file mounted. Hope it helps.
Regards.

Looks nice, crashes. - Version: 2.1.0, 7/16/2007 09:44PM PST

Took care of 4 KB files fine. But never could complete a 25MB file. First time, I inadvertently paused the download by closing the detail window (hey..it was window clutter -- I only needed to look at the main window and its progress bar...OK?!) I thought I rescued the halfway complete download by hitting resume. But then it crashed when it reached the end of that download. 2nd time w/ a different 25MB file, it was allowed to reach the end uninterrupted - where it crashed. I never even saw as much as a partial file in the download folder. Liked the preference flexibility better than Speed Download, but experience rules this one out. (used on 10.3.9)

Same here: I can no longer run this piece of shit (shareware expired) and everytime I want to start a download over Safari or Firexfox, it crashes! Error: "DAP unavailable". Impossible to run DAP just to set the preferences off nor to uninstall. That sucks badly.
does anyone know how to uninstall this piece of crap - Version: 2.1.0, 2/5/2007 08:42PM PST
