aMac Digital Radiography ReviewForgot to rate it... - Version: 1.5.1, 6/2/2004 01:23PM PST

TheMacGuy
I've used this product for several months and if you want to know how easy it is to use, try iPhoto... it's easier than that and I didn't think it could get much easier than iPhoto!
When you buy the product, there is very little documentation that is needed. Like many Apple applications, it is very intuitive. Installation is as close to one-step as you can get with an OS X app. Use is, as I've said, intuitive. You don't have to know digital radiography to acquire and manipulate images. All you have to do is click buttons on the interface. It even knows which patient the image belongs to (as long as you know), so it can't be stored in the wrong place. So what little documentation there is comes with the installation disk.

If you need support, you can arrange paid support through aMac DR directly. How better than direct from the "horse's mouth"?

I don't know of another digital radiography program, Mac- or Windows-based, that offers all the features of this product. They keep adding tools as they update the program and this is an incredible "hidden" benefit of this software.

Price: I'm a dental practice management consultant and when I do a return on investment analysis for my clients, the typical ROI of about 1 year is always met with very pleasant surprise, so don't let the basic kit cost of $12,000 discourage you. The hardware has a 2-year warranty, not the usual 1 year of other manufacturers. Worth a lot when you look at the cost of warranty extension programs!

aMac Digital Radiography Commentarybest software for OS X, even for Windoz users - Version: 1.5.1, 6/2/2004 01:03PM PST

TheMacGuy
I've used the aMac demo for about 3 months now, various releases, and it just keeps getting better (more filters, tools, smoother, faster) and in comparing it to any other product, Windows or Mac, in my opinion, there is NO comparison.
If you want a stable, non-glitchy product that provides patient info on the screen and stores the images with the other patient clinical info, this is the ONLY product out there. Nothing else comes close. In addition, it interfaces seamlessly with most of the Mac practice management packages out there and you can even use a digital intraoral camera, not only to snag individual frames, but to capture QuickTime movies as well directly into aMac.

As far as a comment on the question on cost, each dentist's professional practice situation will determine how much the package costs since it includes the digital sensors and interface box as well as the software.

If your dentist is interested, have them contact aMac at the phone number or email listed here or on the website. Tell Dave Krugman that "The Mac Guy" sent you. He's really very knowledgeable. If you have a Windows system, he can tell you how to use aMac to view your images.

aMac Digital Radiography ReviewaMac Pricing - Version: 1.5.1, 6/2/2004 12:51PM PST

amacdigital
The price is $11,995.00 for the first kit. Our intentions are not to hide the price as traditionally we try to discuss the different options that the dentist has available first. Since there is so much to this type of product (how many operatiories they take x-rays in for example) just throwing a price out there is not a good idea. If you have any further questions about aMac, pricing, benefits or features of the software, feel free to direct them to me.

Best regards
