Bookpedia ReviewIt Works - Version: 4.5.2, 8/25/2009 11:07AM PST

This user of BookPedia & DVDPedia run a Church Library with about 2500 titles. We have all the issues associated with a Library operation in micro form. This software package and the support we get from the developer meets all our needs. As it is a Mac program teaching our volunteer staff how to use it is easy. Bottom line here is for anyone needing to run a small library operation like a Church library this will fit the bill. I am in Ontario Canada. Do a google search, it make take a couple of tries but I can be found if you want to talk.

Bookpedia ReviewFast, reliable, and customizable - Version: 4.4.3, 6/6/2009 12:42PM PST

I started using this program when I first switched to a Mac 2 years ago, and have had nothing but a terrific experience with it. I tried both DL and Bookpedia, and found that Bookpedia was far more reliable and flexible for my use. I recently [April 2009] received a copy of the latest DL as part of the latest Machesit and found that I was still better served by Bookpedia.

As a humanities professor, I like being able to use smart folders and the columns to organize and tag my books. Additionally, the ability to export titles for bibliographic use is outstanding. I have also made good use of its ipod syncing capabilities--which have only been made better with pocketpedia which allows you to sync to iphones and ipod touch. [Something promised in future versions of DL.] This lets me keep track of everything I already have and everything I am looking for and helps me to comparison shop with updated prices for new and used items. I could really go on and on about the terrific customer service as well. But shouldn't you just go and see for yourself? You won't be disappointed!

Bookpedia ReviewGood Design, but - Version: 4.3.2, 9/27/2008 11:16AM PST

doesn't work with my iSight of my iMac Intel. Just a few times it could read the bar code. My arm fell nealy off. Then i tried delicious Library, there the iSight recognized all books immediately.
But the Design of Delicious Library is out of something (American "woodwork" plastic design). The 2 Company should work together, DL with their pattern matching technology and Bookpedia with their design.

Version 4.3 won't mount the dmg file, and fails updating from within the application.
Something's broken here!

Bookpedia ReviewLifesaver! Saves days of manual entries! - Version: 4.3.0, 7/5/2008 09:26PM PST

This app is awesome in the truest sense of the word. It works great with my Canon Alura 100 attached via Firewire but even faster if I enter the ISBN # from the keypad.

The search feature is extremely fast and checks an array (cascade) of sources including the Library of Congress. Being able to "correct" entries to fit our needs is perfect! Now our 1000's of books are once again at our fingertips.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I waited forever for "Delicious Library" to be updated and finally bought this instead. Shouldn't have waited for so long: This is a brilliant application, with lots of different options/sources for information import and huge variety of export templates. Neat!

Bookpedia ReviewThis is a phenomenal piece of software! - Version: 4.0, 9/26/2007 07:25PM PST

These people really do know how to program!

The new version - a pretty major upgrade, adding useful and sophisticated functionality - is actually free to existing users.

On installation it seamlessly updates your data - then continues to provide the best set of features, is the most reliable (never any crashes etc. Never), and looks the most elegant of all such software.

Only complaint - it's worth over twice as much!

Thanks, Bruji!

Bookpedia CommentaryiSight function not usable - Version: 3.4.1, 2/3/2007 09:02AM PST

On my iMac17" with built-in iSight, I've just been trying the barcode reading function (my only reason for trying this, as I happily keep my complex biblio database in FileMaker). So far, Bookpedia's iSight interface usually just isn't registering anything (I initiate the camera attempt and hold the book in front of the red bars adjusting slowly in every way until my arms are sore), while on the three occasions it finally flashed green and registered an ISBN code, it got it wrong (in three different ways) -- multiple digits incorrect, so that the search was futile. This is with ample ambient (but not direct) sunlight...

Bookpedia ReviewGreat application as always - Version: 3.4.1, 1/31/2007 07:07PM PST

I have been using the *pedia applications now for a year and very satisfied. I had been using Delicious Library for several years previously until I began testing the *pedia apps side by side with DL.
Yes, I must admit I wasn't originally happy with the separate applications but then I realized I have a ridiculous amount of books, CDs, DVDs and games that bloated DL causing it to load very slow. The *pedia apps do NOT suffer from this problem.
I also appreciate the ability to pull information on various items from something other than Amazon.
So, I've tested both and the *pedias win hands down. Thanks guys!
