DeskCover ReviewGreat! Some small enhancements could make it even better! - Version: 1.2, 7/5/2004 04:46AM PST

Love the general idea; especially love being able to control the color. Two things for your next version: 1) I really like the idea of a gradient, but could the degree/rate of gradation be user-customizable with a slider bar? I only store icons on the right side of my desktop and would like to restrict DeskCover to the right-hand 1/3 of the page with a rapid gradient. And, 2): every morning when I turn on the Mac I have to reset the coverage area, because it keeps reverting to an earlier setting. But it's a good product, and allows me greater freedom in choosing desktop pictures because I know I'll be able to see my icons! Thanks.

DeskCover Developer Note1.0 Autosize Glitch - Version: 1.0, 5/2/2004 02:52PM PST

There was a glitch in version 1.0 that caused the desktop sheet to have a width of zero when there were not a sufficient number of icons on the desktop. Version 1.1 rectifies this problem, and is now available for download. It also includes some other minor enhancements, including a readme available from the "About" window.

It looks like a really good idea, but it does absolutely nothing except put an icon in the menubar?! Where's the problem?

Sorry had a longer post but VT lost it. Cool concept would be nice to be able to specify a gradient fill so I could have no harsh edge and simply have the somewhat opaque fill transition to nothingness. Additionally I can't get rid of the drag bar even when locked. Additionally, this is not that hard to use. I for one was ecstatic to see such a trivial app not show up in my dock and instead, appear up in the menubar.

I downloaded it too. Sounds like a good idea. It does NOTHING that I can see.

DeskCover ReviewHow do I use it? - Version: 1.0, 5/2/2004 09:31AM PST

This is the first time in years I've downloaded an application from VT and absolutely can't figure out how to use the thing. It's a bad sign considering it only does *one* thing and I can't figure how to use it!

Is it me? I don't think so. While I appreciate the authors attempt to make the application "transparent", I think he/she has gone a little too far this time. Why not include a Readme file?

I think the idea is great though, only if I could see it work.....
