Product Description:

BluePhoneMenu is a small application that adds Caller ID functionality to your menu bar and desktop using your Bluetooth enabled phone.

BluePhoneMenu keeps a log of who's called at your fingertips and shows you the current signal strength and battery power of your phone. Unlike the Address Book, BluePhoneMenu does not have to be connected to your phone or in the foreground to alert you to incoming calls.

What's new in this version:

UI enhancements like:
  • Caller ID now references unknown numbers to the AddressBook.
  • New audio alerts can pause iTunes when there is an incoming call.
  • Customizable call log and "Clear Log" menu option.
  • Menu bar icon displays Bluetooth availability and detects Bluetooth USB Adapter insertion and removal.
  • BPM respects user's preferences on time and date formatting.
  • US phone number formatting.

New preferences window with:

  • Option to connect to phones at launch.
  • Option to automatically disconnect from phones to save batter power.
  • Option of percentile or dBm for displaying signal strength.

Service discovery of channels means:

  • More phones will be supported.
  • Connection opening is faster.
  • Fewer conflicts with other Bluetooth apps and devices.

Technical enhancements include:

  • Ping devices for availability and more accurate stats.
  • BPM now distinguishes between Bluetooth not being active and no devices in favorites.
  • New methods for detecting indicator changes.
  • Support for CRING messages (Nokia 6600, possibly others).
  • Sony Ericsson phones should no longer react to outgoing calls.
  • All phones will no longer connect whenever a new Bluetooth connection is detected.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 or higher
  • Built-in Bluetooth or a Bluetooth adapter

BluePhoneMenu CommentarySorry raimundhorst but - Version: 1.2.15, 6/22/2005 09:47AM PST

It seems the developer has taken the advice given in the post underneath yours and is now developing the successor to this as a shareware app. As it says above "BluePhoneMenu is no longer supported. It has been superceeded by BluePhoneElite."
