OSX 10.4.4 does not get on with this. - Version: 1.2.15, 1/13/2006 04:18PM PST

Since installing OSX 10.4.4 I noticed that the download speed of my cable internet connection (via an Airport Xt router) had slowed to an absolute crawl. Eventually by a process of elimination, I discovered that BluePhoneMenu is the culprit. I am sad about this as I really like this little app, but there you go

It seems the developer has taken the advice given in the post underneath yours and is now developing the successor to this as a shareware app. As it says above "BluePhoneMenu is no longer supported. It has been superceeded by BluePhoneElite."

I don't know what "vtmja" is expecting, but... "not enough"? Not enough for what, for a FREE app? Please.
I have used this app from the first day it came out, I have contacted the author about a few things that didn't work for me (I'm sure "vtmja" did that too before ranting in public...) and they were fixed a few days later. This is outstanding, especially - let me get this straight - for a FREE app.
The functionality of BPM is amazing and continues to grow - please don't post brainless stuff like aforementioned user did, I really don't want to see this developer lose interest in giving this to the community. And as users said: I too would pay for this. And I rarely pay for shareware.
Thanks for this great little piece of software!

I agree with much of what vtmja says. The features he iists would clearly be very handy. I agree most strongly with point 4. I have too many clashing icons up there as it is - it would be good to have both options, a menu or a dock based app.
Exporting the SMS in the same form as an e-mail (with sender, date, number etc.) would be nice but you can cut and paste the message at present.
I'd like to see SIM backup facilites added to the program.
Overall I think vtmja was too harsh. This is a great wee app, it keeps me amused, provides useful info about the phone and works. Well done to the author and more power to his programming elbow. I look forward to future developments.

Not enough... vtmja
For instance:
1. why the hell does it not show all the SMS content next to the sender name all at once, without requiring you to browse endlessly through messages to see which one you want to keep/erase!
2. why can't it export message?
3. why doesn't sync the messages and load them all everytime for refresh
4. why is it presented as just a "menu" and not behave like a normal app

I have been using BPM for the last month or two. I can honestly say that it provides much needed additions to the SMS tie-in with OS X.
1) you are not limited to a single message length
2) Caller ID is right on!
3) System integration and phone re-discovery is very good.
The developer has been very good with responses. I hope his plans to bring out a "premium" version comes to be. I for one will be more then happy to give out my hard earned cash for this.
People complaints about limitations should be noted and forwarded on to the developer. These are not really limitations of the freeware/donationware version of BPM, but rather good ideas to be looked at for the full-feature version. (IMHO).

The best of the bunch right now

Overall, this is a great little app and works well with my R520. The fact that it's Freeware, and the way that it handles SMS management on the phone give it the edge over Salling's offering.
I have experienced a small conflict with Address Book that sometimes prevents SMS Messaging and Dialling from that app. This seems to be fixable by quitting BPM and Address Book, then restarting both but Address Book first.
Also minor grumbles about interface design - mainly answer call dialog that gets on my nerves a bit.
Otherwise fantastic. Thanks for the work you're putting into this.

Well I think you guys are way too enthusiastic.
I'm in general very frustrated about SMS management in OSX and this apps doesn't help that much. Face it.
For instance:
1. why the hell does it not show all the SMS content next to the sender name all at once, without requiring you to browse endlessly through messages to see which one you want to keep/erase!
2. why can't it export message?
3. why doesn't sync the messages and load them all everytime for refresh
4. why is it presented as just a "menu" and not behave like a normal app you can select quickly by doing alt-tab or in the dock?
