I use this product to edit my SenseTalk programs. Redstone Software does a bang up job with release cycles, forum support and personalized email response/solutions. The competition is as or more expensive than Eggplant. The level of integration support for SCM is amazingly deep and impressively simple for a complex issue like GUI testing. Bug reports are often fixed within minutes of reporting them. For instance every single bug I reported in the last release of SenseTalk were addressed in the latest release of the language system, not one left for a future release. That to me is worth the price I paid for this software, Redstone is that complete and thorough. The Sensetalk Language Reference is about as complete a language document available in the WORLD. I program in 30+ languages, and ST is without a doubt the most complete I have come across regarding documentation. As a quasiobject language, it approaches Self and Smalltalk in its simplicity. As a mature language of some 15 years, it was recently extended to include helpers and property lists. Sensetalk just keeps on getting better. Eggplant on its 4th major release is maturing into a super solution for CSM, something I have been looking for years to afford and use. Thank you for making my life much nicer and simpler. My boss loves me for recommending Eggplant. Seems like he is due for a raise because we are using it. I'm hoping I get a raise too.

Not expensive for this category of software. - Version: 2.1, 2/9/2005 05:42AM PST

The price is about the same as the list price of Rational Robot or Mercury WinRunner & these guys have done more for keeping a clean and stable version of VNC up to date than anyone, so I don't see this as a problem. The price is in line with developer tools.
I haven't used the product, but I have used VNC, which this is based on.
I do wonder what's going to happen with Tiger, which has automator built in.

I've used versiontracker for years, and I am indeed an Eggplant customer. Simply put, we depend on it. This is for feedback about Eggplant, not about doubting other feedback for a product who haven't used.
It's not nice to rate your own software

The software does what it says, but is WAY overpriced - IMHO.
I do take exception to companies rating their own software. I find it hard to believe that mickazoid registered for Versiontracker because he/she was so enamored with the software that they just had to post something - they registered the day they posted -and have not rated another piece of software since.
Anyway, if you have the cash and need to do repetitive testing, this IS a great piece of software. Just a shame that it is not within reach for a small business.

Eggplant is at the core of a number of crucial tasks I perform on an ongoing basis... by automating any task that a user can perform, we have been able to apply an automation 'mindset' to many mundane tasks.
We use it for automating system administration, publishing content to the web, running software releases, automated and on-demand reports, product testing, and product demonstrations.
The interface is rich, yet simple and elegant, and using the software is very straightforward. The scripting language allows you to be very detailed, the 'if-then' logic allows powerful conditional scripts to handle any foreseeable events, and the movie capability allows you to capture and communicate your test cases quickly.
It's the closest thing to cloning myself I've found - and it's a lot less expensive than a bunch of freelancers and testers!
