Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Troubleshooting ReportCase sensitive filesystem incompatibility - Version: 1.0.4, 3/27/2007 06:39AM PST

It's really sad, but some companys still don't have QA that considers (in my opinion) quite basic issues: If you try to run this game from a case insensitive filesystem (which I need for several reasons), it won't work.
Trying to fix the broken files with the help of ktrace hasn't proven successful so far. I found two culprits, and after changing them, the game would at least switch the screen mode. But then it exits again.
Hopefully Aspyr repairs this soon. :(

Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour CommentaryNo Intel Mac v. PowerPC Mac netplay - Version: 1.0.4, 12/7/2006 02:35PM PST

From the read me:

"Known Issues

Due to differences in the way processor architectures calculate time, multiplayer can only be supported between like processor manufacturers. Multiplayer is supported Intel to Intel and PowerPC to PowerPC only."

This is a terrific update. It runs amazingly smoothly on my Mac Pro now at 1600x1200 with graphics options max'd. I played two games with no problems, and it was faster and smoother than ever! Kudos to Aspyr for making this a free update!

Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour ReviewTurbo Charged! - Version: 1.0.4, 12/6/2006 05:44PM PST

This had been my favorite game but I had to put away my copy because it had been so slow on my intel MacBook Pro. I finally broke down, installed Bootcamp, Windows XP and bought the PC version. That screams! It worked so fast that I had to throttle down the speed so I wouldn't suffer a nervous breakdown trying to play the game but I never liked having to reboot into Windows to play the game. After applying the update today, the Macintosh version is now as fast as the PC version and my nerves can barely stand it. The helicopters fly around like they're jets propelled and tanks and vehicles zoom around like they are turbo charged...and that's at the highest resolution and image quality!

Thanks Aspyr for the great update!

The VT update doesn't mention it, but according to Aspyr's site, this release is a Universal Binary. From the site:

- This patch is for users of Mac OS X versions 10.3.9 and 10.4 only.
- The version 1.0.4/1.0.2 patch provides universal support for Command and Conquer Generals and the Zero Hour expansion.
- Adds native intel support
- Along with the release of GameRanger version 4.6.1, will improve internet game functionality

Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour ReviewHeavy crashing - Version: 1.0.3, 4/2/2006 06:59AM PST

welcome--2008
I don't know: I've been playing Zero Hour for more than a year, and I used to be totally addicted. It worked absolutely perfectly., and if i could give it 6 stars, I would. But lately it's been crashing on me, and more and more often (the heavy kind of crash with full freeze and hard reboot).
Even after quitting all other apps, repairing permissions, running DiskWarrior, reinstalling, running from another system etc...
The support team at Aspyr was quick to respond, but they couldn't do much: they advised me to delete some files that may have become corrupted. Which I did. But it's still crashing. As a matter of fact, it has become impossible to play: the game's just gone.
Since the problem started a few weeks ago, could it be that the file corruption is caused by Tiger 10.4.5 or one of the Security Updates?
An incredibly sad story. I honestely can't recommend Zero Hour until this crashing issue's solved.

Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Reviewstill quite unstable - Version: 1.0.3, 7/11/2005 08:28PM PST

saved games oftenly crash (specially against the final general, in challenge mode), freeze and crashes occurs 1/3 of the time... on panther, on tiger, on both my machines... and on my friends' too ! well, I like this game but it's definitly too unstable to deserve a good rate.

When running Tiger 10.4, hot keys doesnt work in either Generals or Zero Hour.
This almost makes the game unplayable if your'e used to hot keys / if you are a serious gamer.
