Product Description:

TrackYourMac is a software utility that will monitor your Mac's IP address to allow you to keep tabs on your Mac.
From the moment the TrackYourMac software is installed you will be able to keep track of your Mac via email or via the web. Although insurance may cover the fact your Mac has been stolen the data on it can be more valuable to you than the hardware itself.
TrackYourMac is a great tool in finding where your Mac is currently located simply for reference if you are a system administrator, or in the event that your Mac is stolen. Now the law enforcement agencies have something to work with should your Mac get stolen.

TrackYourMac CommentaryMAC address? Why? - Version: 1.1, 6/10/2004 12:32PM PST

Shwenky, why don't you just write your MAC address down somewhere? It doesn't change, unless someone swapped out the network card. Besides which, what good would it do you to know the MAC address if it has been stolen?

I think it should also keep tabs on your Mac's MAC addresss, your ethernet card's serial number, wich is broadcasted whenever the machine is online. If my laptop were stolen, I would wish for then network interface #.

It says that it tracks the IP address and you get that info via email. Obviously, it detects the change in IP address and emails that info to an email address that you setup before the computer is stolen.
