Sound Grinder is an audio conversion utility providing comprehensive features and built to process files in a fast, efficient and rock solid manner. In addition to Universal Binary support, running 100% native on both PPC and Intel microprocessors, version 3.0 includes several new features including: "Droplets" for simple drag and drop conversion, support for Quicktime Components such as Flip4Mac Windows Media component, enhanced metadata editing, and more.

Sound Grinder now includes a new workflow option called Droplets, which provides a simpler way of converting audio files. Choose your conversion settings, and save the Droplet to any location. When you drag any file(s)/folder(s) to the saved Droplet icon, Sound Grinder will process those files instantly using your specified settings. This provides users an effective way to create valuable workflows for current projects, or recall settings from past projects.

Sound Grinder 3.2 also provides support for additional types of metadata for additional types of files, including reading and writing the full suite of ID3 tags in AIFF, WAVE and MP3 files. Sound Grinder features conversion support for the most popular audio formats including: Sound Designer 2, WAV/BWAV, AU, AIFF, OGG/Vorbis, MP3 (LAME codec), Quicktime and others. Users can convert files right within the OS X Finder by using Rapid Convert, our contextual menu and OS X Dock conversion tool. Other features include support for pull-up/pull-down sample rates, folder hierarchy recreation, and 31 character naming compatibility.

What's new in this version:

Fixed an issue where Quicktime metadata was not displayed or used properly after import.
Fixed an issue where some numeric metadata would not be processed correctly.
Fixed an issue where Option+click would not enter edit mode if the Caps Lock key was down.
Made a slight change such that assets that are not found on the filesystem are displayed in gray text instead of black text indicating they are "offline".
Fixed an issue where saving session files and "Commit Changes to Original File" would fail if the files were not on the volume containing the OS.
Fixed an issue where changing values in the Auto Trim Settings Dialog could cause a crash.
Fixed an issue where an error message would erroneously be displayed during copying when the Spotlight comment was empty.
Updated to work with latest version of Flip4Mac Quicktime Component (v2.3.0.14)
Updated AIFF importing to support more valid, but officially non-compliant AIFF files.
Fixed an issue where iTunes would not recognize the track metadata in MPEG4 Audio files.
This version contains several other fixes and enhancements providing greater stability and efficiency.

Love this program for converting flac files but the metadata functions are just poorly thought out. Really, you've got to remember to press the Option key to edit text??? This program seriously needs a "Transfer existing Metadata" button or check-box so that this is transferred from one format to the next without a bunch of time-wasting editing. Maybe someday this will be fixed.
