Product Description:

Overture is easy-to-use notation software that's powerful enough to satisfy the needs of today's professional musicians and composers. You can quickly enter notes on-screen with your mouse or computer keyboard, or record a MIDI performance for instant viewing. Overture’s intuitive interface puts powerful editing tools and symbol palettes at your fingertips, so you spend time composing music instead of searching through menus. For complete orchestral arrangements, lead sheets, individual cues or even simple notation examples, there’s no faster way to create professional notation than Overture.

What's new in this version:

When entering dynamics and hairpins the default location is used if they are entered below the top of the staff. If they are entered above the staff the current dragged position is used. If they are entered below the top of the staff and the default location is used, the dynamic/hairpin is moved below any notes or beams that would collide.

pseudonym (Useful Software)
The company appears to be so disorganized that a demo version, still downloadable as of 4/30/07, has already expired and will not open! -Not a good sign.

This program will do as much as Sibelius in notation, and is a full VST host. Of all the music programs I've used (Finale, Sibelius, Encore, Prof. Composer/Mosaic and a few more) this is the most intuitive and elegant. Easy and fun to use.

Overture ReviewA good alternative to Sibelius - Version: 3.6, 4/5/2004 11:43PM PST

Overture was Opcode's ENCORE, which was a reliable scoring application. Overture is adequate for scoring and is quick and easy (as easy if not easier than Sibelius) for note entry without the convoluted input steps of Finale or Sibelius. Overture's strongest point is in the easy in creating and editing lyrics. For this one feature alone, I use Overture on on certain projects since I score in 2-byte languages (Korean, Japanese) and this application handles such easily, unlike Sibelius. If scoring for an orchestra, I might choose Sibelius but when lyrics are needed, this is the tool and the price is very competitive.
