Got a new 30-inch Cinema Display? In that case you will want to install Tigger immediately to fill your menu bar with something useful ... :-)

Tigger displays a scrolling ticker in the menubar. The actual content is provided by plug-ins, third party applications – or by yourself using Tigger's AppleScript interface!

For people with smaller screens (like me) Tigger is also able to display the ticker in a borderless floating window.

There are currently four plug-ins included:

Plug-Ins:

  • Smiley Ticker (displays random Smileys and arbitrary images)
  • Time Ticker (displays time and date)
  • iTunes Ticker (display current iTunes or Audion track)
  • Battery Ticker (display battery status)

What's new in this version:

  • new plug-in: Mail Ticker (separate download)
  • Time Ticker is able to display 'fuzzy time' (like 'five past eight')
  • iTunes Ticker allows rating by clicking on tracks in the ticker
  • plug-ins may offer online help
  • added online help to all included plug-ins
  • about panel for plug-ins
  • it's now possible to revert preferences for individual plug-ins
  • plug-in's preference panes can be resizable
  • bugfix: honors transparent ticker setting on startup
  • bugfix: iTunes Ticker should not crash any more

This is such an awesome program, but there is a problem when running the NewsTicker plug-in along with iTunes. It FREEZES! So if that problem could be fixed, it would be perfect. I will keep an eye out for an update, but absolutely love the software!!

Names, however unique, can't be trademarked, so "Tigger" really is probably safe so long as the developer doesn't associate it with Disney. The potential problem is associating an actual product with the name. I can write a novel titled "The Sun Also Rises" but might not be able to trademark that name for my program.

Trigger is a more discriptive name for the functions....AND it's safe!!!
