Product Description:

Qucs briefly for Quite Universal Circuit Simulator, is a circuit simulator with graphical user interface. The software aims to support all kinds of circuit simulation types, e.g. DC, AC, S parameter, harmonic balance analysis etc. It comes with Qucsator which is a command line circuit simulator. It takes a network list in a certain format as input and outputs a Qucs dataset. It has been programmed for usage in the Qucs project but can also be used by other applications. For people who are familiar which such simulators they should remember ADS from Agilent Technologies, Microwave Office from AWR and all the other simulators. This is an installer for Qucs 0.0.6

What's new in this version:

The new release comes with a new translation into Ukrainian, a selectable preprocessor in the SPICE file component and two new components, i.e. an exponential voltage and current source. Libraries can now contain analogue as well as digital subcircuits. Analogue modelling is substantially strengthened by symbolically defined devices. And last but not least pure digital simulations can be also performed by Verilog-HDL as an alternative to VHDL.

In the simulation backend the equation defined devices (EDD) have been implemented as well as the two new signal sources. Also the list of available functions in the equation solver has been extended to support vt(), hypot(), limexp(), arcsec(), arccosec(), arsech() and arcosech(). Furthermore logical and rational operators as well as the ternary ?: construct can be used in equations.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OSX 10.3 or higher
Trolltech's Qt/Mac 3.3.5 or higher (compiled with thread support) -> an installer is available on http://naranja.umh.es/~atg
while the program runs natively under MacOSX some libraries from Apple's X11 distribution are needed

Just countering Duckhue's idiotic "review." This isn't (yet) a perfect circuit simulator but it works and it is free. I need to bang on it some mork before I can really review it.

Quite Universal Circuit Simulator Usage TipThis needs Trolltech's Qt 3 framework - Version: 0.0.5, 3/16/2005 11:43PM PST

slartibart (ATG)
gentle persons,

as displayed by the installer during installation, mentioned in the included ReadMe, and written on versiontracker: this program needs an installation of Trolltech's Qt framework *THIS IS NOT QUICKTIME* compiled with thread-support- you can download a binary installer of the GPL version for MacOSX 10.3.x via http://naranja.umh.es/~atg
If you like to compile the latest version of this C++ framework for yourself visit http://www.trolltech.com
