FireFix CommentaryIt's not the app's fault - Version: 1.7, 11/29/2005 04:17PM PST

The "nightly builds" are what can break your current installation of Firefox. This just gets whatever current version changes for all of us BLEEDING EDGE TYPES. Yes, I lost the ablity to install plugins. Of course I did because I was updating the browser point by point.

Does the app work? YES
Can you break your browser by downloading unstable builds? YES
Are you an idiot for complaining? mmmmm, read between the lines.

Grade the app not the nightly builds and stop acting like PC heads MAC people!

Let's transition into the MacTel era with some pride and continue to use the grey matter.

FireFix ReviewAppleScript error w/OS X 10.3.9 - Version: 1.6, 11/7/2005 02:33AM PST

ffooky

"hdiutil: convert failed - File exists (1)"

I get this when trying to update either Firefox 1.0.7 or 1.5RC

I presume this is a problem with the change in AppleScript between Panther & Tiger but can you advise a solution ?

Cheers.

FireFix CommentaryDON'T USE THIS PRODUCT!!!! - Version: 1.5, 8/26/2005 03:10PM PST

Thought I would be helping "The Team" and once Deerpark was intalled, some functionality was lost to do with windows etc. So I trashed it and Firefix only to find that Firefox is now damaged, even after downloading & installing the latest version, to the extent where it is unusable & I have had to revert to Safari.

Man alive - stay away from this product - its flawed!!!

FireFix Troubleshooting Reportnow it's kinda dangerous - Version: 1.3, 6/3/2005 11:59AM PST

Since Firefox is a final release, this app now downloads Deer Park, the alpha project. Firefox users are recommended by Mozilla _not_ to use Deer Park. Careful. I'd appreciate more info about all this....

FireFix Developer NoteIMPORTANT - .Mac screwep .tar.gz files - Version: 1.3, 4/27/2005 09:58AM PST

At first, I could not believe the problems some people reported about errors. But I have now found out that the tar.gz files downloaded from .Mac are in fact corrupt. The sympton of this corruption is that there is a stray Readme file and the app generates the ominous 1708 error. I could not reproduce that, because the .tar.gz file I put on my local iDisk is just fine, only the version transferred to .Mac is broken (and it affects only files in the Public folder). This is a nightmare. Anyway, I just archived the files to .zip and changed the link on VT and MU (but it may take a while until they fix the links). So for now use this link to get the zip http://homepage.mac.com/reinholdpenner/.Public/FireFix%201.3.zip

FireFix CommentaryGear up for utility-anxiety - Version: 1.3, 4/27/2005 04:57AM PST

While I've only used FireFix for less than three months, I feel this software should be a required "extra" for Firefox 1.0.3. Nevertheless, I am compelled to voice my observations, which I am very concerned about. ¶After running this utility –again & again– I am left without most of my Firefox "tweakings." The extension FlashGot 0.5.8 is stripped of its settings & the download manager, Speed Download 3.0.6 is not recognized by FireFox. Only after repeated restarts of Firefox then booting the system does the browser seem to "revert" back to its previous configuration. If you've got a "personalized" version of Firefox, good luck. The autopmated function of FireFix still needs human intervention —after the fact— which seems to hinder & impede the untilty's automated & discrete ability. Perhaps not running it every day. The marginal differences of nightly downloads, et al, seem to hinder by exacerbation & frustration: Allowing it to run while the system performs its Unix housekeeping, while still connected to the Web is great...until one has to undo all & reboot [!] to get back to where one left off. And hopefully FlashGot & Speed Download will still function. Daily...no; weekly...maybe? It's still a good utility but...If you've really configured Firefox to your individual tastes, perhaps you might think twice before you decide to let FireFix perform a daily headache of worry & anxiety. Perhaps the info/read me could be improved?

I updates itself to version 1.3 and then still can't find the server to download from. Shame as the nightly builds were often great when Firefox was in beta!
