Product Description:

Apple's Airport Base Station give you the ability to access your computer network wirelessly and with the addition of RADIUS software, you can protect your network from being accessed by unauthorized computers. If you have a network with multiple base stations and many wireless users, RADIUS is a must to easily administrate the access of your networks.

When a user machine (such as a laptop with a 802.11b or 802.11g card) wishes to access your network through a RADIUS enabled Apple Airport Base Station, the Airport Base Station will communicate with your RADIUS server to determine if the laptop should be allowed access to the network. You program you RADIUS server with a list of all Apple Airport card hardware identifier. Every wireless card in the world has a unique and unchangeable identifier. All communications from a wireless card encodes this identifier within the data communication stream. If the laptop's identifier is in the RADIUS server's database, the server will inform the Airport Base Station to allow access to the wired network. Any other wireless computers are denied access. This will allow you to control who can access your network easily and seemlessly to the users of your network. This is particularly handy if you have many computers and multiple Airport Base Stations. The information is stored in one or more central servers and your users can roam from one station to another while maintaining security. This also allows you to control your network access without configuring passwords on individual laptop computers or keeping a list of allowed identifiers in numerous base stations and keeping them synchronized.

Features:
  • Simple installation
  • Easy editing of RADIUS configuration
  • Text search of RADIUS records
  • Comments field for user records

  • A text search capability so that you can quickly get to any record in the user or client database without have to scroll through thousands of records.

StellarRADIUS Reviewagreed... - Version: 0.3, 6/23/2005 07:56AM PST

Yeah, take a look at www.net-seven.com 's hosted radius with an online GUI... less trouble than this and way worth the almost free price. Been playing with the trial - pretty damn cool.

StellarRADIUS ReviewA good start - Version: 0.3, 2/26/2005 11:20PM PST

RichB2u--2008
A GUI interface to a RADIUS server. The version of FreeRadius provide by the Stellar developer is required to be compatible with Stellar since the latest one from SourceForge has changed the location of some files. Once you get the FreeRADIUS server working this is a handy front end with room for improvement. For example there's no mention in the documentation of the fact that you can't use it logged into the server as root, you must log in as an administrator that evokes an authorization dialog when connecting to the server. The interface could be improved (like sortable columns) but it is still better than using a text editor like pico or vi on a config file. Recommended but hope there will continued development. It doesn't really provide the security described, the FreeRadius server does.

StellarRADIUS Reviewcould be cool ... but... - Version: 0.3, 9/20/2004 03:54PM PST

The product could be a cool way to interface with RADIUS which is too complex for ordinary folk. ... However the distribution of freeradius that was D/L from their site in OS X installer package didn't work. I guess I'll never know ...
