I use this all the time, and contrary to a previous comment, I've never had any problems with it timing out. But then I only have about 3000 songs in my library. As for the recommendations I get, for the most part the recommendations are pretty good. when I enter an artist for a recommendation I usually get a lot of artists that I already have or have listened to, quite a few that friends have tried to hip me to but I haven't listened to yet, and some out there stuff that I've never heard of. I've gotten a lot out of using Mobster.

The one thing that I can suggest is if you haven't uploaded your xml file, do so. The more data musicmobs gets the better the results. encourage others to as well. Even if you upload your xml and never use the app again. You'll be turning regular users of Mobster on to new music.

One other thing to keep in mind, Mobster is still beta. It evolves and improves on a very regular basis. It's getting neater all the time.

Contrary to the foolishly negative statement below, Musicmobs and Mobster continue to deliver uncanny recommendations. Years of friendships, reading Q magazine, and seeing opening acts for my favorite bands have been hotwired into a few minutes. As I told Toby back in the beta days, "it's what we never knew we always needed."

If for some reason you still don't enjoy using the software client to Musicmobs, I would still encourage you to use the Musicmobs website itself.

...as cool as Audioscrobbler.
If you have a LARGE library it takes forever to update. It "times out" alot...
Not as much musical diversity in the Mobster set...that could change with time if more people start to use it.
Its recommendations are very general and way off, especially if you don't happen to listen to maimstream-alternative "popular" music.
I hope the upload gets better for those of us with big diverse libraries...
