Product Description:

Ardiem is the evolution of a little utility I wrote a while back called "CocoaEject". The program is designed to provide simple methods for the user to manage the CD drives connected to their system. Ardiem's features include:

Complete support for hot-swappable devices!
An easily extendable plugin based system for adding support to new types of devices in the future
User selectable system-wide keystrokes for opening/ejecting any of the detected drives
A status icon in the bar allowing quick and easy access to all detected drives
And, best of all, it's free!

What's new in this version:

Several brands of FireWire CD/DVD drives were not properly recognized. This should be fixed now but if any users are still having issues (mainly LaCie users) please send an email to bugreports@chaoticminds.org or post in the Bug Reports section of the Chaotic Minds forums.
Firewire drives will not properly add/remove themselves when they are unplugged from the host system or powered down.

A real shame that this utility seems to not support USB 2 connected drives. I wrote the developer, but got no reply. Too bad as it's clear FW is being left where it is by Apple AND being there's no i/o transfer speed issues (USB2 supports far more speed than an optical drive can do) there's no reason to pay 10-20 extra for FW and USB connections.
