SiteSucker ReviewI've tried them all... - Version: 2.3, 11/18/2009 09:39AM PST

And this is the one I've been using over the last few months. I doesn't seem like Web Devil, or any of the other apps are updating to keep up to the pace with the new styles of websites out there. This does the job good, no problems.

SiteSucker ReviewGreat piece of software - Version: 2.3, 10/3/2009 04:15PM PST

I have used it for years. It works great.

I appreciate the "Localize http" default fix. I was confused by this problem more than once.

Thanks.

SiteSucker ReviewUpdate to my previous post - Version: 2.2.4, 8/20/2009 09:14PM PST

After emailing the developer three days ago, they replied today with with a document containing the settings that were successful for them to download the site I was trying to get. He explained that my search settings could be saved in a similar document so I wouldn't have to reset them every time.
He says that "It looks like the crash that you saw was caused by an invalid URL on another site" and "This problem will be fixed in the next version of SiteSucker."

In the meantime I had kept trying different settings and finally managed to download the site I wanted by limiting the search to the site's server only.

Nice to see that the developer responds to problems and tries to help!

SiteSucker ReviewCrash, Crash, Crash! - Version: 2.2.4, 8/17/2009 03:15PM PST

OregonRebel
Almost every time I've tried to run v2.2.4, it crashes repeatedly, shortly after it begins downloading.

Yesterday it took about 10 tries before it finally downloaded a site. Today I needed to download some additional images that I'd excluded the first time, and I've tried to run it at least 20 times now, and it's crashed every time! I've tried many different settings to no avail. And something that's REALLY annoying is that after every crash I must change all the settings again, AARGH!!

This app should be called Crash Dummy, because like a crash dummy it crashes every time it's used.

The one time it did run, it downloaded the entire site (minus my exclusions), which is something I couldn't get Web Dumper to do.

And this is actually DONATIONware! "Pay any amount of money SiteSucker is worth to you or use it for free." HAH! I think the developer should pay ME for the countless hours and frustration spent trying to use this sucker!

I just emailed the log and crash report to the developer.

SiteSucker ReviewIt does the job - Version: 2.2.4, 3/16/2009 08:17AM PST

I've used SiteSucker for over a year and unless the website has blocked it, it's worked without flaw. There have been times I've had to "hack" the site, but SiteSucker does it's job unless I fail to do mine. Great application!

SiteSucker Troubleshooting Reportsimply does not work - Version: 2.2.3, 2/6/2009 07:28PM PST

thestuntman
when this first arrived on the scene years ago, i was in love with it. i fired it up and sucked down hundreds of sites without a hitch... and that's even without adjusting any of the handful of configuration options. and then they added features to it... more and more configuration options. soon it just simply did not work anymore. not at all. not on any site. ever. i have spent hours and hours trying every possible combination of every setting and i get nothing but an index page from any site i try. i keep giving up, and then coming back, only to be angry, frustrated, and hopeless all over again.

SiteSucker gets the job done quickly with reasonable configuration options.

Blue Crab is actually a purple turtle. This is the one which works.
