Preferential Treatment CommentaryImportant feature request - Version: 1.1.8, 2/28/2009 06:50PM PST

roro01
What we really need is a feature to detect preference files which are not associated with any application, i.e files of applications where we have deleted the applications but forgot to delete their preference files.

Preferential Treatment Troubleshooting ReportUnsuppored OSX - Version: 1.1.8, 11/18/2008 01:59PM PST

When I try and run the application it says "The version of Mac OS X you are currently using is not supported by Preferental Treatment. Please update to a newer version using the Software Update feature and then try again"

I have OSX 4.0. I cannot run any type of software update as I can only run in Safe Boot at this point. Any ideas?

Hi, I just want to say that Jon provides the kind of support that we all wish for. i found a problem with 'Preferential Treatment' in the Leopard environment, emailed the description of it to Jon and it wasn't an hour later and he responded... problem fixed .... all this for a program that he "Gives Away". how can it get better than that.

I said (in a comment that I have removed):
> -BringToFront.plist seems to cause problems.

This is not the case. The problem is more subtle, and I have notified the developer.

This is a great little app that does exactly what it says it will do.

Part of my regular maintenance routine.

Thanks for keeping this app current and making it free!

Well worth donating a few $ to!

A very simple, straightforward way to check for problems in preference files. Already was able to head off a couple of problems before they became real problems. I sent a donation

Installed 1.1.5 & received an error msg when scanning user preferences. Had used V1.1.4 previously. e-mailed Jon Nathan & received an immediate reply saying he would check it out. About 2 hours lated received another e-mail stating an inadvertenterror was introduce in 1.1.5 & would be corrected in 1.1.6 in a couple hours. v1.1.6 did correct the problem. Talk about fast response & it's an excellent program as well. Highly recommended.

PT v1.1.5 identified/found a User problem that v 1.1.4 had not. I was able to run both versions and each time 1.1.4 resulted in no problems, but 1.1.5 always yielded an alert, ergo my confusion.

A quick note to the developer resulted in a reply within the hour. And all is again right with the world.

Couldn't ask for more, especially from Donationware.

Attempting to download Preferential Treatment and unable to do so. It flips me to Alternate site which disappear immediately and returns me to the original download Preferential Treatment.

This is not a new situation. I have yet to be able to download anything associated with Version Tracker.

Many other program have downloaded without any problem.

What am I doing wrong?
